Right, update time!
Sorry for leaving you on tenderhooks with my short and ill-tempered last blog entry, but I have been busy
Kinda
First things first, I was angry about not getting the role of Will Parker I was so keen on getting in Oklahoma! (the show's name has an exclamation), and seeing the role go to my somewhat less impressive but somewhat older rival was a little galling. I don't mind so much now, since I have seen the girl playing Ado Annie and can confirm that if I was cast opposite her, it would look ridiculous. It looks weird with him, but at least he's slightly taller than I. I have been allocated a chorus role, specifically that of Ike Skidmore. I have eight or so lines (was going to be sixteen or so, but I got cheated out of that - seems somebody's going to be drafted in to play my 'dad' in the play.) and I have some solo singing bits. So it could be far worse, and I will be named in the programme with an individual character
Still, the play is getting me worried. There are nowhere near enough men in the chorus line (3 tenors and 5 basses? Another 8 or so guys and we'll be fine...), and the guys who are being begged to come in and do it couldn't be less arsed if they tried. A guy who showed up on Tuesday's rehearsal blatantly didn't want to be there. Jesus, if you hate it, then bugger off. The director is reassuring us that it'll all be good, there will be more men etc...and my parents are saying it's not my responsibility to worry about it. Well, no, but when it comes to actually acting the play it'll become really tough. There's like 16 girls for 8 men, and 6 of those men are in their late 40s-50s while there are maybe 4-5 girls aged 18-20 years old, and I don't think the girls are awfully comfortable with their considerably older counterparts. Of course, I relish the prospect of being fought over (there will be auditions to see who plays my stage girlfriend, bwahaha
) but a play has to have chemistry ,and the less drop outs the better.
Truth be told, a lot of actors don't really like Oklahoma that much. A shame really. It's good, provided you keep it dynamic and lively. One guy decided the music wasn't for him, which suits me fine since he was so embarassingly off key it's amazing he would have even got in at all.
Anyway, my PC is doing something incredibly annoying at the moment, specifically pretending my DVD drive doesn't exist on occasion (irritating when you want to watch DVDS or play games, something I do a lot on this PC). Anyway, I love all my fave SGs, particularly Jackie and Blythe who while not being anymore friendly or sweet than my other friends (THOUGH YOU ARE!!) are occasionally intruding on my thought process when I wonder what they would look like having a bath together in my bathroom....
I know it's perverted, but I am something of a pervert so hey
If anyone wants to share dirtiness with me, they are most welcome...There is startlingly lttle filth in my life, and I'd like to hear some
