Even if you can't take meds seeing a therapist once a week can be extremely helpful, also there are usually depression and bipolar support groups which a therapist would be able to tell her about. Bei g able to talk to people who understand and are going through the same things is very helpful. Also some groups have sponsors who are available to talk to or meet with any time she is feeling really bad.

I agree with the above. She needs to talk to an unbiased party.. someone who can help her figure out WHY she is depressed, then come up with solutions.
I know you wouldn't WANT to do this.. but given she is pregnant.. if she really sounds like she is a harm to herself, you need to call a hospital.

Until then, remind her to take her vitamins.. (I currently take something called CALM, and it helps a LOT... not sure how safe it is for pregnant women though... I imagine it would be ok)

But I REALLY think it would help if she could talk to someone and find out where these thoughts are coming from. There are *some* medications that pregnant women can take.. sometimes the pros in this case would outweigh the cons
