New Tattoo Revue is up with Iraqis going against Islamic Law and getting tattooed so their bodies can be identified when kidnapped and mutilated -- and other feel good stories like that. Check it.

Oh snap - I just realized I "know" you from BME (I was molebiol). I haven't been on there in forever because...well shit, the kids seem so damn young nowadays and I was turning into an old fart. So here I am on SG instead smile

Btw, have you interviewed Robert Hernandez? I freaking LOVE his portrait work. Really awesome stuff.
plannumberone:
Hi again, Marisa. I'm in New York with a friend these days. Have any recommendations for places to hang out, stuff happening?

And thanks for dropping by now and then. You have a level head :-)

Say hi to Daniel!

He's silly.

Paul Booth is one of the--if not the--best known and appreciated tattoo artists in the world. In fact, his popularity is cultish. The man's got minions. He created a style of macabre black-and-gray tattooing, rich and textured, that is definitively his own and easily recognized.

Tattooing for over sixteen years, his work can be found on members of Slayer, Pantera, Biohazard, Slipknot, among many...

An American Tattooist in Paris would have been a perfect title for this interview with artist Sunny Buick, but I just realized she was born in Canada. I'm watching Sunny tattoo a classic Americana work on a guy. She's wearing a kicky beret and speaking French, the only thing missing is the baguette slung over her shoulder to complete the Parisian stereotype. Yet, most...

Today I wrote about Tattoos in the Workplace for my Monday SG column, which focuses on the popular Associated Press article of the past week on tattooed and pierced white collar workers that has everyone's panties in a bunch.

I should really do a count of all the emails and messages I've received from people over the years -- either through Needled.com or my BME...

I worked in the corporate world for a few years. At every interview I went to, I wore long sleeves, and as I felt it out, my closing statement of the interview would always be "So, just to let you know, I'm tattooed.", and would roll up the arms. I landed a great job at a software company doing accounting, and they were totally open and couldn't care less about my work. It was a small company, so within the first two weeks of employment, I had answered all the "so what's that" questions.

I have no sympathy for people complaining about their tattoos in the workplace. If you can't get around the issue, and it's going to dramatically and negatively impact your life, don't fucking get tattooed.

/end wine induced rant.

I really liked your column this week. Thank you! biggrin

I grew up with Patti Smith, Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, Debbie Harry, Chrissie Hynde, Siouxsie, Marianne Faithful ... hence, a discography on how to kick ass.

I was on iTunes today looking at the top selling female pop stars now and they include Pussycat Dolls, Paris Hilton, Danity Kane ... I could go on but then it will just sound like "In my day, we...

oh fuck yeah! Thank you!

And yeah...on the rare occasion I turn the radio on, I have absolutely no idea who the artists are. I actually have uttered the words "Kids these days and their music.".

Yeah! My interview with Colin Dale is up today.

This guy rocks! He does traditional hand and machine tattooing of Nordic and Native American influences. I just wish he would update his site because his new work is amazing. We had so much fun at the London convention and I learned a lot about runes and Viking mythology from him. We talk a bit...

Tattoo artist Colin Dale is a tall, strapping man who looks like he comes from Viking stock, which is actually quite fitting considering his passion is recreating ancient Nordic art on skin (and plundering villages). With a penchant for studying the past, Colin has learned how to mark the body using primitive methods such as thorns and thread, but is equally adept at creating designs...
