I'm off to the airport in a few hours, chemical bombs in tow, to see my friends get hitched on the Greek island of Chios, where I spent my summers frustrating my grandmother with my lack of culinary skills. Or any of the domestic arts.

My Tattoo Revue should be up tomorrow in the SG news section..

The news of my hiatus from Needled should...

I channeled the ghost of Dangerfield on my SG Tattoo Revue column (rant?) about not getting any respect these days being heavily tattooed. You know you just aint bad ass anymore when Elton John feels man enough to mock ya.

It's up in Newsfeed. Check it.

i love that they still maintain that old school surliness. especially on St. Marks, which is becoming an underground Disney ride.

I walk into the gym today and spot this hot guy from behind with broad shoulders, strong legs and the most perfect butt. He turns around and it's my husband. yummmmmm. I love when that happens.

Out of all these hard bodied guys in the room, he still automatically grabs my attention. Watching him lift heavy objects is a thing of beauty.

Is it so...

thanks for your comments, yes it is a sofa, simply shot just using one standard household lamp, but i moved it around until i got the lighting how i wanted it, my lecturer said that it was a beautifull print, and he rarely gives positive feedback.

This is what I'm thinking about at the moment:

If one tattooer knowingly steals the artwork -- a full backpiece -- of another tattooer, copying it EXACTLY (not just using it as a derivative work but every detail is identical to the original unique work), should the artist of the original design sue, especially as it has the elements of a perfect "test case" making...

that's what I originally thought but i've been hearing things like "pussy cry baby" passed around to describe the creator. of course, i hear these statements from disreputable artists so maybe there's the difference.
misstyrios:
I obviously know more about the legal community than the tattooing community (besides, you know, having tattoos) but I think this is something that needs to be done. I would think that any "pussy cry baby" stigma would be outweighed by the benefit this would confer on the tattoo community in general, particularly the well-known and reputable artists. It may piss off those who are willing to copy someone else's work and they may very well be the majority - but for people who take pride in their work and those who go out of their way to get work from those artists, I think it needs to be done.

My Latest Tattoo Revue Is Up and it's all about highbrow hype associated with tattoo culture.

I have mixed feelings about using tattoo imagery in marketing luxury goods, but as a general rule, if an actual tattoo artist is getting paid for his or her art, then I'm for it.

The exhibition in Asheville is really cool .It has lots of flashes and pictures from many famous American tattoo artists from the 30's on.

Re: workwear to the club:

Try it, te reaction should be interesting. I rarely wear a suit, but when I lived in Philly I made a point of going to my favorite smoky, hipster-infested dive bar (owned by a friend of mine), post-performance while in formalwear or a nice Italian suit. The staff and regulars always gave me the usual "Cheers" style welcome, the others were amusingly bewildered.

Nothing like challenging the perceptions of those who believe they are challenging the "normal people's" perceptions.

and a minor note: typically one responds to journal comments in the other person's journal, so that they are aware you've responded.

Cheers!

Yesterday I was quoted in The NY Times Ethicist column on my legal opinion regarding employee rights and tattoos. The question was fairly easy because it involved a construction worker who had a bunch of Nazi tattoos and wanted to work shirtless at clients' homes when it was hot. Can the employer make that employee cover up? Yes, as a general rule, and exceptions to...

I'm back from Corfu and back to work. It was quite an experience being in a place with no other tattoo bad asses to back us up. Not only were we the most heavily tattooed there, we were the only tattooed there.

The stares I got were intense, especially from my husband who was not happy with going luxe and wanted to camp on one...
