oooohhhh. I cooked myself a lovely dinner of roasted butternut pumpkin and aubergine with purple brocolli and lentils. Then i ate

too

too

much. ooooohhhhhh.

So I'm going to try to push the words out past my full belly. It hurts.

This last weekend I spent at a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery in Eskdalemuir, Scotland. Eskdalemuir is such a great name for a place, it sounds so like a craggy woody myth-making place. Which is kinda what it is, but without the crags and the myths.

I caught the train to Lockerbie. My first thought as I crossed the footbridge out of the station was I wonder where the plane went down... I looked at the surrounding hills searching for scars, 17 years later. I am morbid and a rubbernecker.

The weekend was filled with talk from a learned Buddhist nun. It wasn't terribly profound, but it definitely helped me think about the dullness of my mind, and the sharpening I will endeavour to give it. If I can spend even 30 minutes every day meditating, focussing my mind, then that focus should spill over into the rest of the day.

My weekend was very clean, and it felt good. I spent a lot of thought on thinking. I took my lovely Mamiya medium format camera with me, and enjoyed deliberating over the 10 shot limit of the format - I only took one film with me. I took a couple of shots for cklarock and one for Sophie, I'll get them developed soon.

Then I travelled back again. It did my eyes good to see Scotland. Riding through the countryside, the hills and trees were comforting. Expansive. The trees were made for cutting down, the cattle bred for eating, sweet little lambikins. This aesthetic of deceptive nature, forever changed, appeals to me no end.

Someone give me a Scotch.

kiss

Update
Remember to listen to Love. Especially 'You Set The Scene'. It is just about everything I feel right now.

Actually, these moments of musical randomness are truly what technology is about. (Smog), then Love,, then the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, then The Beach Boys.
