I sit with my eyes closed, further buffered from brightness by the hat pulled down to my nose. I travel in my hangover, it's rudder takes me in this direction and that.
My perception is unreliable, bringing moments of surreality. This train travels in a fairly determined line, I wish it was on an eternal curve I could lean into. Perhaps circling a mountain, just...

It's always good to read your musings and photos. I paused on suggesting one reads a photo as it doesn't sound right but I think for some photos you do have to read them.
I spent yesterday, all day, in my little room. It was quite an indulgence, spending the day doing small things that are forever being out off until later. I patched my jeans. I tidied. I can't even quite remember how it was I spent the time, but I know I was busy all day. Very satisfying.
Today I had my weekly day at the desk...

if you're reading this it probably means you're back from scotland - how was the trip?
while i await your reply i will entertain you with this bit of utterly useless trivia seeing as how you love the 101:
i have located the actual frontline of america's religious war - and i am here to tell you, my dear celeste, that it lies verily along the 101 itself, somewhere near canoga ave...
as it happens, my beloved kxlu, the unfortunate subject of a brief rant in my journal some weeks ago but truly the last independent venue for underground music in this accursed burg and as such the love of my life nonetheless, does valiantly clash at the frequency of 88.9 fm with some creepy right-wing christian station somewhere in the valley! as i travelled along the 101 thursday night i witnessed mortal struggle between kxlu's most excellent weekly jamaican show, and some preacher speaking on the "evil of the gaze" with regard to virgins - in those moments where the preacher had control of the frequency i knew for certaiin that i was behind enemy lines, vulnerable, perhaps entirely alone...
as a safety precaution i now keep my radio on at all times when travelling that particular stretch of border road. i expect to hear any day now, "brothers and sisters in christ, we have a sinner, a jew heading north along our periphery - intercept him at once and bring him hither that we may sever his horns and save his vile soul." i'm thinking of putting a jesus-fish on my car to confuse them...

On the importance of looking people in the face
Especially when insulting them, looking at the floor and mumbling "You have no manners" is not effective.
Walking along the street and eyeballing those you pass is a difficult skill, one that I have not yet entirely mastered.

Where were you off boating anyhow?
dixiehelle:
Believe it or not, in the south (US) people almost always smile when they make eye contact. I live in california now, and it doesn't happen as often, unless I smile first.
Most people even actually have the time to say hello when passing, in the south.

Same routine mostly. Trying not to be sick right now, which is taking a lot of effort (and a lot of cough syrup). My band is doing some recording this weekend, so I'm pretty excited about that. Otherwise, it's the usual stuff (e.g. working, trying to plan the rest of my life, etc.).
How was your boat jaunt?

It has to do with additives they put in the water here. Mostly beef hormones and phosphate. I'm pretty sure there's something to do with phosphate.

I am dubious of your nice girlness somewhat:
Nice girls aren't interesting.
You seem to be far too much of the latter to be categorised as the former.
I think that was a compliment but I'm not certain. Don't quote me, just in case...
'nice girl"... heh.

Points go to Tarqu1n, for suggesting getting the hell out of the house.
A good circuitous walk through the woods on the Heath, and 1 hour later everything is much better:
Solved: I'm going to do my nudey pics next weekend. I had had the idea that I would do them on my roof, but went up there today and it's just not going...

Studyfunhell. Let's see a photo, we could all stand to answer some questions like these once in a while. How are you?
I have to stop painting myself into a corner. I seem to always be putting up perfect fences around my world, demarcating all sorts of no-go areas.
So right now I'm grappling with all sorts of inferior complexities, when really I'd much rather be throwing my hands in the air and screaming my way along another dip and turn.

I would suggest putting on some sunglasses and heading down to Hyde Park to alleviate those thoughts.
I know what you mean though. I sort of have the same thing from time to time. What gets me out of it is applying my Kendo mindset to everything else in life. Poise, a steely glare, mental sharpness and the thought of myself as an unstoppable force in any and every situation.

How is it that this clement weather can do things to my mind? (Dr Rickets come back! I'm sure you'd have some insight to shed.) Beautiful warmth and sun, a slight breeze, and suddenly I have this intangible feeling of excitement, optimism, good things around every corner. And xmas as a kid, Sydney summers, santa on his way, these all seem to be present in...

Release from desire. What a quandry. On one hand it seems to me to be a desirable (ha!) state, to understand that desire is merely a function of the ego, and the ego nothing but an illusion.
I want I want I want. I want answers to all these darn questions.
Actually desire is quite enjoyable, as long as it is fulfilled occasionally. I once...

yes i was picking my favourite songs at the weekend that mention california, LA, or SF. i decided my favourite was a hip hop track called 'San Francisco Knights' by People Under the Stairs. an absolute epic which will be put on all the mix CDs that i seem to be promising people..
the weekend was mostly spent at home, but sunday afternoon was back in london and Monkey Chews, and got absolutely ratted. have still managed to walk to and from work everytime so far this week
i really dont know what i want to do. one minute its contemplating teaching english abroad (just for the experience, not because i really want to teach for a career), doing voluntary work in asia, moving back to leicester..i just dunno
marty mcfly was a slacker and..er, look what happened to him..
in other news, the best way to deal with a hangover at work is to think about fruit-related events, i have discovered..
