Edited to add: I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of support. A few of you went so far as to link me to your journals and for that you have my sincerest thanks and appreciation. You are all amazing people and your love and support is a tremendous help in my families time of need.

Thank you all.

My Father's name was Alan Robert Keiper. He was born Jan 10th, 1949 to Arthur and Delores Keiper of Johnstown. PA. He was the youngest of three children.

He grew up in an alcoholic home that thrived on mental and verbal abuse as well as extreme control and power issues from both of his parents. He did his best to ensure he did not become them. He served in the US Navy for eight years during and after the Vietnam Conflict. He served with honor and pride. He left the service and worked his fingers to the bone in scrap yards while attending the University of Pittsburg in Johnstown. He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering and made himself a respectable man. He provided everything he could for us.

Feeling badly because he was rarely around while my middle brother Alex and I were growing up (something he regretted all his life), he did everything he could to involve himself in my youngest brother Robert's life. After that, he became a scout master to continue giving to other children and see that they learned valuable skills and had someone in their lives who understood honor and courage.

My father passed away this morning from a Pulminary Embolism. He was the best man I'd ever met in my life.

That I were half the man and father he was, I would be a success.

I love you, Dad. I pray that God takes you into his loving arms and you remain as you were in your youth: Young, lean, athletic. And wearing the goatee that drove your mother bat shit crazy.

I miss you, Dad. I miss you more than I've ever missed anything in this world.
