Our 10-year-old got suspended from school for a day today.
He is in grade 4 and has been diagnosed with ADHD. Earlier this year, he and his classmates got their first lessons on anatomy, puberty, etc, and since then, my kid has been borderline obsessed with some of the concepts, to the point he talks to other kids all the time about it, which has annoyed and driven them away, leaving him isolated and feeling friendless and worthless. Also frustrating is his tendency to deny doing what he is accused of doing, despite his teacher and classmates all telling similar stories about his actions. All this has me feeling clueless and powerless to help and making me wonder if the fact his mom and I are divorcing, at times rather rancorously, is contributing to his behavior.

And of course, all of this additional stress is doing wonders for my state of mind and depression. I completely identify with his feeling isolated and friendless; I feel the exact same way; I'm posting this as I sit alone in my apartment and my entire day's social "interaction" has entailed me making small talk with the employees at the gym I use.

I need to call my doctor to get on a new antidepressant, mine ain't working.
