Hi!
This week's blog homework is "What do you collect?"
For most people that would be an easy question. They may reply with a simple answer such as "coins" or "belly button lint"....ya know easy answers....however mine is much harder.
Let's start from the beginning. I began collecting "things" when I was about 2. When we went to restaurants my dad used to draw on the napkins while we were waiting for our food so I'd take them home and keep them. I laid them out on my little shelf in my room. When you tell people you used to collect napkins...they look at you weird but when I tell them the story they see its not so bad lol.
Then I moved on the beanie babies. I still have all my beanies....about 350 of them. I collected them for years before eventually growing out of them but I still don't have the heart to sell them. I bought most of them with allowance money or begging my mom in the store.
The same years I was collecting beanies I started getting into books and comics. I couldn't have enough of them. I loved reading and learning so I bought books of all sorts.
I have books about astology, fantasy, vampires, star wars, animals, manga, the list goes on. I have a garage full of books and a closet full....I can't fit them all on the shelves I have.
Most of my original comics are boxed up. I don't have the room for them nor do I want them destroyed by nieces and nephews when they come over. One already broke a collectible x-wing figure 😡 So the comics I have out are the ones I've bought in the last year or two. They range from Magneto, Death of wolverine, Hulk, Spider verse, Secret Wars, House of M, Iron man, Star Wars and Hellraiser.....as you can see...I'm more of a Marvel fan.
Now...let's move on to my most recent addiction. The addiction that has taken over my life lol. It started as "omg this is so cute I'm gonna buy it" to "aw well I'll just get another one so the one I have isn't lonely" to "omg I MUST everyone in every series."
I actually have so many of these things that I had to start displaying them on a new wall because the other has no more room. I filled up a bookcase first...then they overflowed into the wall space and now thats full so its on to another wall lol. And that's the Funko Pop! Vinyl figures.
Since the pictures I've probably added about 12 more to the new wall...ugh I think I have a problem lol
I have tons of rare ones and collector ones. I now only buy exclusive ones or ones from my most favorite shows. I inspect everyone box to make sure it's perfect like I do my comics. No dents, no rips, no bended areas. I will spend an hour looking for just the perfect one.
I also collect star wars toys and the Marvel select toys. All in boxes never opened lol.
I may sell my collection one day but right now it makes me happy 😊
