Just because someone has it in their head that they're the customer and the customer is always right, doesn't mean that I'm going to let them heap their shit on me.
For example, the store in which I work has a bag check policy, what with comic books being fairly small objects that can be pretty pricey, this makes a good degree of sense. Rather than pick and choose who we will hold bags from, we take everyones bags, and we keep them in very a very visible bag check area, as to allevieate any worries of people possibly rummaging in their stuff- We sometimes get people who decide that they want to cop an attitude about it, they'll say things like that their stuff is too valuable to check, or they don't trust us with their things, or something along those lines. Now, I tend to tell these people our alternative to the bag check is right where they came from. I just think it's somewhat disrespectful to let some shmuck cow us into letting them slide when we have regular customers who are in every week and who spend hundreds of dollars a shot and we still take their bags up front. We also ask that people leave any food or drinks at the front counter (coffee or ice cream + comics = bad situation) There's every now and again that someone will come in and give some of the staff static about this, and they'll say that they'll pay for anything if they spill it or whatever (one guy was espescially belligerent once because he didn't want to leave his coffee because it wouldn't still be oh so piping hot when he came back for it) If it's up to me, I tell these people that the store will still be here when they finish their stuff outside.
These people want to come into my place of business and then have the nerve to start telling me whats what? I'm sorry, but just because I'm in the customer service biz, does not mean that I'll let myself get pushed around.

if you can get me a job in a comic book store for the remainder of the summer I would be thrilled. Especially since I'm getting into comics something hardcore and need a job.

long time no see as well. We should hang out and do shit around Toronto next time you're in the neighbourhood.

well, i have to disagree with this , I think if you're going to have a bag check, it really should be in a locked or farther back from the public area. not blaming you, but warp should be able to afford lockers. That would alleviate some of those complaints. Also you should see some of the messes people make with the coffee cups in our store (come on we have starbucks) inside.
