The critical thing to remember when engaging a stranger online is to remember that they don't owe you anything. They don't owe you their time, or an explanation, or the satisfaction of a response. If they engage with you, they are doing so out of the goodness of their heart, not because of anything you are owed.
A stranger online does not owe you anything.
