So, we've been back from our trip to Florida for almost two weeks but it has been very busy, getting back into the swing of things at home and preparing for school.

My middle child (4 y.old) is starting school! He is very excited. And my firstborn is going into 4th grade. How did THAT happen?! I am looking forward to having some one on one time with the little guy. It will be good for him to have me all to himself.

As for me, I am looking forward to the structure that the school schedule imposes on my days. It is too easy during the summer to just loaf around! But I guess that is what summer is for after all.

Anyway, the trip was really fun. Thankfully the children are good travelers an the ride down went smoothly. We took it over 3 days and stopped for the night in Richmond and Savannah.

We had lots of fun in the hotels: swimming in the pools, jumping on the beds, riding the elevator, ect.

My cousin's wedding was the best I have been to since my own. Nice ceremony, great party! I got drunk on four glasses of zinfindel (I know, I have no tolorance for alchohol!) and danced all night with my family. We had so much fun. My kids partied harder then most of the grown ups there! I was proud to be their mommy.

We had a great time at Disney. I am usualy very anti-Disney because I don't like the corporation and the movies have weird messages, but I have to say that the park is run so smoothly. And everything is beautiful and clean. It was nice, too, to go on rides with my kids that I went on as a kid, like Pirates of the Carribean, It's a Small World and Space Mountain, which was even more fun than I remembered. An we saw a rainbow too! Pretty magical.

Then the way back home on the Auto train was super cool! We were very comfortable in our family size sleeping cabin. The train rocked us all to sleep and we had a restful night. The kids didn't want to get off the train when we got to VA. My 4 y.old kept saying "but I'm not done with my trip yet."

Even though traveling with small children takes a lot of extra energy, patience, creativity and flexibility, it is really a joy to see things through their eyes. That sense of wonder at everything just makes the world come alive.

smile I'm hoping that's how it turns out once we move out of "dad's" house. He needs to be with the better influence 100% and not....well, dad. Hopefully someday I'll find a guy who will be the best stepdad ever. smile

We're good friends, but the romance faded out and right now, we're friends with benefits, living together to raise our son together. It' been going very well, especially since neither of us had interest in dating for a while there. But no I feel like I'm depriving myself of a real lovey dovey relationship and I want that. So I think I'm going to move out in the spring so we can both move on romatically. But I'm glad it happened on good terms and neither of us will ever have to worry that the other is badmouthing behind closed doors. The only thing I fear is that I can't make it living alone with a toddler. He's the breadwinner, primarily, and even though I do have great family support, I'm afraid I've tapped them dry. I owe them so much already, that they'll probably tell me to move in with them, it's free. But I could never live with them. Love them like crazy, but could NOT live under the same roof again. smile
