the world cup is up to the round of 16. 4 matches so far in this knockout round done, two of which had to go to penalty kicks. Penalty kicks are soo stressful to watch. Just brutal on the heart if it is your team going through it. Brazil and Chile had very exciting pk. Blocks and misses, ending on a missed shot which hit the post for Chile and bounced out giving Brazil the win. Well played by Chile though, I bet if that game was on neutral ground Chile wins the match.
Meanwhile poor Mexico once again losses in the round of 16 match. That's 6 straight world cups whete Mexico makes it to this point and then loses. Its a painful fate I'm sure for mexico fans but better than teams that don't make it past the group stage.
Costa Rica survived a first half red card to manage to go to pk against greece. Overall greece was lucky to get this far having scored only 2 goals and a penalty kick goal in 4 matches. The costa rican players were great on their penalty kicks. They hit everty aingle one super well. Not one was a lucky the goalie didn't go that way, nope, goalie had no chance on pretty much every one.
Tomorrow is my last full day in Brazil, I'll be going to see Germany vs Algeria. Hopefully it is a fun and intense match. The stadium here has only had high scoring games so I'm hoping for another one, prefferably though not a blowout by Germany which wouldn't be as fun as a close contested game. I'll have to wait and see.
