long trip to Belo Horizonte but I got to see the greatest soccer player ever, Lionel Messi, play on Saturday. Argentina vs Iran was much closer than it should have been. Iran stacjed ten to eleven defenders into the box playing for a nil nil tie the whole game. They pryay to get one good counter and expect that a fully stacked box can prevent opposing goals. It was a heart wrenching match as Argentina could not solve the defense, until Lionel Messi finally got some space and from a few yards outside the box blasted a curving shot into the corner of the net for the game decider. That's the kind of miracle the worlds best player brings to the game. He is crazy good.
Meanwhe Argentine fans are super intense. Usa supporters don't even stand close to the energy and passion Argenyines bring to a match. They never stopped screaming and singing. That's right singing! They have like a short song that they sing during the match. It was an amazing experience to be at that game.
Meanwhile I also got to enjoy dinner at an amazing brazilian steakhouse. They bring entire steaks and cuts around and if you want some you just ask and they will cut it for you at the table. All the food was delicious. I'm a huge meat and steak fan and I can guarantee you, authentic Brazilian steakhouse is well worth whatever price you might have to pay. Try it at least once and you will not be disappointed.
Lastly teaam usa played againdst portugal today. The match didn't start well with the usa giving away a free goal because of a very stupid defensive error. But the Usa played hard and strong after that. A great goal in the second half to tie up the game. They later took the lead and the game looked well in hand. But with a header 45 minutes into penalty time Portugal tied it. It sucks to let that one slip away, the win would have guaranteed advancement into the knockout stage.
While I wanted to blog only happy things, unfortunately I managed to get myself sick. It seems like a significant head cold, I really hope it goes away so I can continue to enjoy my trip to Brazil. I blame all the flying and the aweful overnight stay at the Brazilia airport which was very cold.
