i have finally made it to puerto alegre. I havnt had much chance to see the main city but this city sure seems nice. I saw the fan fest, which is a large outdoor screen for people to watch the games together. There are vendors and even live entertainment inbetween matches. If you have the chance to go to a fan fest I really suggest it. You are sure to see people from all over the world and it is even better because most people are really friendly.
Today two big soccer events happened. Netherlands beat australia in an exciting match. The socceroos put up a great fight, much better than I thought they had in them. Howerver the imense talent of the Dutch was too much, with the loos Australia became the first team to be eliminated from the knockout stage. But the biggest surprise was that Spain lost to Chile also meaning Spain will not advance. Spain won llast time but will not make it past the group stage. This is the second world cup in a row where the reigning champion does not make it out of the group stage.
Lastly, Croatia beat down on Cameroon which makes the Mexico v Croatia match coming next week very interesting. Its win or go home for Mexico, Croatia would advance with a win or tie. Of course that is assuming Brazil does not lose to Cameroon which will not happen.
