In case there are any of you wonderful people left who are not aware of this fact about the woman behind the monitor -
I am a really big clothes whore biggrin biggrin

Fashion has been one of my great loves since I was little. Call me silly if you will, whatever but I see fashion design as art.

And so, having moved to LA, it was inevitable that I would make a pilgrimage to our local style hot spot.

I've been to the boutiques in New York City. I've visited the great shops in Chicago on the stretch of Michigan Ave. known as The Magnificent Mile.
I suffered through three years in the colorless, style-vacant city of DC.

So yesterday, it was time.

Yes, kids - this dorky little chick finally made it to....

Rodeo Drive.
biggrin biggrin biggrin

Oh MAN. It's quite an experience to see how "the other half lives". I'm guessing that a good portion of our nations "Haves" live quite cose to this internationally famous fashion mecca, and think nothing of dropping 10 grand on a Badgley Mischka gown and 50 grand on a Harry Winston diamond necklace.

You know what freaked me out the most about some of the "Haves" I saw shopping at the above mentioned Harry Winston?
They were NICE. eeek eeek

One lady was pondering two different bracelets, and when she caught sight of me watching her, she smiles widely and says "Oh, hell. *I* Don't know....which one do you think?"
So of course I pretended that deciding between 2 pieces of jewelry probably worth several thousand dollars each was no big thing and told her I liked her first selection.

She then had the salesgirl wrap it up, and she trotted off and waited for her driver to pull up with her Bentely.

I swear - it's like watching aliens live. Truly amazing.

So anyway - here are a few pics of my personal favorite designers Rodeo Drive shops:

This one is Versace - known for thier use of insanely bright patterns and asymetrical lines.

Here we have Valentino - one of the oldest and most respected design houses. They have provided gowns for many decades for the likes of Greta Garbo and Marlene Deitrich:

And when I finally got to THIS shop, the sky opened up and angels sang. (Yes, I know. I am a BIG dork) This is my all time favorite design house:

The two men behind D&G have recently ended their long term relationship - I'm hoping like hell it won't affect their work.

Then my hubby and I jumped on the bus and moved on from the sublime to the ridiculous and visited Santa Monica Pier tongue biggrin This place is INSANE - total tourist trap. I've never seen such diversity anywhere else. Really very cool.
And the view is pretty spectacular:

I still think its impossible to clip em inside a pocket. Now if I would do something like that I would clip them to a beltloop and put the keys in my pocket. tongue
