We watched Alien vs Predator and Shawn of the Dead last night.
-Alien vs Predator - aside from some scattered cool action scenes - silly. Very silly. And not the good kind of silly.
-Shawn of the Dead - pretty good. I liked the social statements made, and the film had some very funny scenes and some very poingant ones.

Our real estate agent came...

I always check my car and apartment doors to make sure they are locked. And I'm psycho about hair appliances being unplugged--I always check at least 3 times and then still sort of wonder, hmm, did I unplug the curling iron. I have a fear of accidentally burning my place down I guess. I'm just a little bit of a control freak in general sometimes I guess.

So I went ahead and got my new 'do. I keep growing my hair out, and then remembering that long hair annoys me to no end....then I cut it off again.

I'm just silly like that blush

My SG girlie T-shirt arrived today as well - yayyyy biggrin

I put up a new profile because....well....when a girl gets a new 'do AND a new SG T-shirt...a new...

My mantra for today is:
*I will not scratch this tatto I will not scratch this tattoo I will not scratch this tattoo*
It's on it's 3rd day, and, as I'm sure many of you are familiar with - it's ITCHING LIKE A MOFO!!!

My husband and I went to visit Granny at the nursing home today - she seems to be pretty content there,...

So my flu bug is mostly cleared up - what's left of it seems to have settled in my throat. My voice has that gravelly Demi Moore thing going on...

FINALLY saw Napeolean Dynamite last night - great, great, GREAT movie. I was so pleased to see someone finally get the high school geek thing right. Most films seem to want to portray nerds as...

I went to see the movie with a bunch of friends...maybe 10 of us...by the end of the movie, there were only a few of us left. Apparently they thought that it was the worst movie that they had ever seen...I thought it was the funniest thing ever!
Glad that you are feeling a little bit better....I like the new tattoo!...You guys are all making me jealous...I want a new one..... whatever
Have a good weekend! whatever

You may be on to something with the interview approach!

I love Napoleon Dynamite too. It's like a religin at UMBC.

We got granny all settled in at the nursing home yesterday - it's a VERY nice place, and the staff is really pro-active in making sure she is taken care of. Her room is right across from a nurse's station, which will work out well - granny is pretty much unable to walk, and there will be someone available 24/7 to help her.

My husband...

LMMFAO ... two hours huh? Well ... I guess it was atleast good to know that she felt comfortable enough in her new surroundings to be herself. LOL.

Congrats on passing the final steps and making that decision a reality. Prolly one of the hardest things you've had to do. But it's for the best in the end - everyone will benefit.

Sooooooooo ... thanks for the welcome back. Thanks also for the kind words in the email about my story. Dunno why I never replied to that ... I suck.

And be thankful that you didn't buy me a gift account. Hexe bought me one last night against my wishes and then Smuffy bought me one today ... also against my wishes ... and two others wanted to as well.

I didn't want anyone to gift me ... I wanted to be able to do it myself. But I failed and bowed to the pressure and accepted Hexe's ... just so I can rag on her a bit for not being able to follow directions,

If you had been the one ... well ... it would been your ass I'd be coming down on.

And that sounded so wrong.

Yeah, so.....today it was 70 degrees in DC.

On January 13th.

We had the patio open at work. It was funny - people were asking to sit outside....and looking confused about it.

Positively surreal.

Tommorrow it's supposed to be in the thirties.
And I used to think the midwest had unstable weather.

This is my last week at my job at the Bistro, and my...

My only recommendation as far as a tattoo goes, is that you find something that you really feel like belongs on you. And take your time in finding it.

I actually tried to do my own. And I don't mean just design it. I mean I tried to tattoo myself. It didn't work heh. It disappeared in a few weeks. I'm going to just get it done properly now. But I'm glad that it disappeared rather than looked badly done.

One of the designs is the last one in my journal. I'm getting that and another one. One on each foot. I plan to get more after that..
prince_uf_pain:
Wow I wish it would be 70 degrees here for just one day. Our weather is like that though, one day it will be 60 and the next it will be in the teens.

Sometimes I wonder if anyone ever really left high school. Most people I work with act like they should probably start over in 5th grade or so. lol....oh well...that's life.

Anyway, I'm trying not to work too hard...you do the same, and hope you are doing well also. Take care you.

Sooo.....we dropped off all the paperwork today to offficially get the granny-in-law an admittance date at the "residential care facility" - This Monday, Jan. 17.

I can do 5 more days of sleep rationing. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and all that...

The place is VERY nice - lots of docs and nurses on staff, swanky rooms, and a huge,...

Hey! Yeah... I've been hooked lately on this. I joined a few months ago but lately I've been stuck on this site from the time I wake till the time I go to sleep. I'm probably having SG dreams too... who knows. smile

That's kinda funny about the 14 year old kid. It's probably best that he not see auntie MalloryKnoxx's fun bags. wink

BTW Natural Born Killers is one of my fav movies!

Yeah - so I journal a lot here.

*shrugs*

Seeing as how I'm on graveyard shift here at granny-in-law-care central....and I've been sleeping about 4 hours a day - I can't do much work on my book.....and most of my friends don't much care for 3 am phone calls....I've gotta keep myself occupied some way.
There are certainly less entertaining ways than journaling here and...

Sorry to hear about the major sleep deprivation but it is a good excuse to say what you want to say to your co-workers. And I definitely can relate to the surviving on Red Bull (or any of the imposters out there). Its so weird to feel tired but to be so wired you are shaking. I am convinced that Red Bull and ephedrine is just over the counter speed.

I am thinking of getting a shamrock tattoo but sort of celtic knotwork to form the outline on the lower part of my ankle. One of my friends is also going to get a shamrock at somepoint and we've dubbed it our friendship tattoo, even though they probably aren't gonna be exactly the same.

Good luck finding some time to relax and write. smile
freshprncebelair:
Yeah, I kinda play my cards close to my chest most of the time. That's why writing is such a good outlet for me, because a pen is a lot less dangerous in the hands of a messed up individual than a .30-06 while perched on the rooftop.

So - I just got home from work - CRAZY busy night - which is a very good thing as the last month has been painfully slow. Most DC residents aren't native to the area, so they all go home for the holidays and the Nation's capitol becomes a ghost town.

We hired a new server last week, and I'm finding my co-workers reaction to...

Well I know the girls are psycho. I just don't mind it that much, at least temporarily.

As for the dinner. I would be down for you and your husband to come, but I gotta find out what is going down, and ask my mom if I can have a bunch of people over. Im thinking it's going to be a sort of dinner/hot tub bash. I need to get home first, and talk to some people before etching anything in stone.
ragefilledmuffin:
It would be really funny if this gorgeous guy ended up being gay. The girls would've been all catty for nothing and the guys would be totally speechless.
It sucks when someone is judged solely on their appearance, whether it's good or bad. But I guess we all do it sometimes.

Urrgghhh!!!

So I'm going to be up all night - it's my turn to pull the night shift in the granny care workweek. Granny was being a pain in the ass - demanding special soup, complaining about her hot tea, and generally driving me nuts.

FINALLY I get her back to her room and to bed about 1 a.m. I've been up since about 6...

I read about your book in the group. Is it being published yet? I'd like to read it. I have thought about writing a book on my experiences too, but cannot seem to really let go and write about it, even though I consider myself a closet writer.

Not sure what else to say...um. Nighty-night. smile

I am wishing you all the luck and patience in the world. It sounds like a rather trying week. If you can spare an hour, take a nice bubble bath and chill for a bit.

I'd love to move to Chicago. But its an expensive city and I'd need to know I had a good job before making that leap. Maybe someday...

That pretty much sounds like what my promotions manager job will be. With a little bit of general manager thrown in, as well as photographer. I shot their band publicity photos before Christmas and they turned out pretty well. They are online somewhere, I think, if the website is working.

I like the new profile pic.

Happy New Year to all

I'm glad I found this site. It's really been a bright spot in the exhausting last few months.

Things are already looking up for the new year. We've found a great place for Granny to spend her remaining days, and plenty of people to look after her.

This will allow my hubby and I to finally sell this house and........

Well ... your husbands account I can understand ... it doesn't go by cancellation date ... it goes by sign up date. So if he signed up on say Jan 1st and on the 3rd, decided he didn't want the account anymore and cancelled it, he'd still have access until the 1st of February ... or whatever denomination of months the account was for.

Apparently I am here until the 13th ... so says a good friend who figured it out for me. Sure ... I coulda gone back through my journals myself to find the date where I said "Hey ... I'm back!" from the last time I went grey ... but damn ... that takes work. There are too many things and people to talk to and about here rather than going back and finding something I said. LOL

I have to say - this has been a brutal 10 day period of time. My husband and I have run at fill tilt, sleeping in shifts so that we can look after his grandmother. We have both gotten to the point that we have literally collapsed and come down with the flu.

After a depressing Christmas day of going over and over various angles...

You aren't abandoning her ... nor should you feel guilty.

The fact that you have realized that the care she needs in beyond your means and that you are looking for a reputable place for her to go where she can get all the care she needs (and be as bossy and manipulative as she wants) shows a lot about your character.

And it's a good character ... not a bad one.

I love your analogy about Jessica Simpson. Nice one.

So .... you're writing a book? Any chance you might let someone peruse it ... like me?

*huggles* Don't stress yourself out hon ... things will work out in the end and you'll understand that it was all worth it and you'll be a better, stonger person from it all.

freshprncebelair:
I applaud you taking care of the grandmother.

You are giving it your best, and that's all anyone can expect you to give. I hope the folks upstairs don't forget about this when you are old and need a helping hand.

That's why I try to always hang out and help my grandparents. When I am that old, I don't want people ignoring me, and not helping me. I also enjoy talking with my grandpa. He's a very smart man. He is the main reason for my conservative/libertarian leanings. I talk to him, and then I talk to all these liberal teenagers at my school who know everything and think anyone who disagrees is dumb. People tend to forget that the elderly are quite wise. Institutional memory is quite valuable in my eyes.
