I'm going to visit my parents in Cincinnati next week - heading down with them on Monday (they're in town to spend some time at the family cabin at the lake, and see some friends), and will be back late on Sunday the 16th via my first ever direct plane flight. Don't expect to hear much from me while I'm down there, as I'm only...

So, I'm reading a pirated PDF version of Larry Niven & Steven Barnes' Dream Park, transcoded to Mobipocket format to go on my Kindle. (I own it in paperback, I'd just rather read it on my Kindle right now.) And I come across this sentence:

Gwen seemed about to speak; then she linked anus with him, and matched him stride for stride down the hall.

I has Kindle. Specifically, a Kindle 2. I was seized by an overpowering urge to buy one yesterday and squeaked in under the deadline to have it shipped to me today. I'd been using a Palm Tungsten T3 as an eBook reader, and it's okay for that, but it can't compete with the Kindle - much smaller screen, much lower battery life, trickier to load...

Haha, I eventually gave him and Kona half each of the skin. Too tough for me to eat, but they handled it well.

That gaming group sounds really fun. I'm kind of jealous. I wish I had something like that to go to.

Hopefully my brother and I will figure out how to play it soon.
otoki:
FUCK no. I hate fridays. Tell me when the next one is and I'll tag along.

You know, one thing I have definitely not been looking for in my pornography is a XXX version of Seinfeld. *shudders*

Presumably there is a climate in which sweating actually helps cool one's body instead of making you all soggy until it dries your clothing into hardened salty knives to attack your flesh with. But I've never been there.

Fuck, I hate summer. tongue

I didn't know there were expansions, but I think it's pretty cool as is. I'll keep an eye out for them though.

Been kind of a mixed day. My mother's husband's father, Roger, had been in increasingly ill health for a while, which eventually led to his move to an assisted living facility along with his wife, who's so far gone in Alzheimer's at this point that she barely reacts to the world around her. We visited them there around Christmastime. As places to go to wait...

Ladies and gentlemen, my friends:

Malkav is watchin' Speed Racer. The movie, on BluRay. Is verra spanglesome inna visual, rather confused otherweese. He is, for example, somewhat mystified by the family arrangement in which a) Speed's girlfriend apparently lives with the family, and b) there is a monkey for no apparent reason.

You say, "I assume this is because these things were in the anime,...

Well, when she gets the time it'd be worth the tiny investment.

See, when I'm elected emperor of the world, that free will to make your own decisions based on your own needs, desires, and experiences thing is going right out the door.

How is that movie? I heard it's a bit like downing several red bulls and a tab of acid then fingerpainting.

Not really a whole lot exciting going on these days. The job's good but tiring (mostly because of the 7 am wakeup). I plan to enjoy being paid a whole lot more, but only on my first full paycheck from the new job, so can't say for sure how it'll affect my life yet. Spending a lot of time playing WoW with a friend, less...

Hmm, I should be able to run bioshock. I'll probably get it when I have some free time. I've been feeling strangely book- and jewelry-driven lately.
otoki:
Yes, I meant making jewelry. A good chunk of money goes into it (I spent $70 recently for jewelry I'm going to make for a fashion show) but mostly it takes up a lot of time. I'm also going to open an etsy soon so I'm trying to coordinate and organize everything.

For years my taxes have been extremely simple. Get my W-2, go fill out form 1040EZ (or call the TeleFile line, when that still existed, or these days, go put the info into TaxSlayer's website and have it spit out a return.). I've hardly had to decide a thing. I make a single hourly wage with no complicating factors - no interest to speak of...

A followup to last Friday's journal post - one thing I didn't mention in that post was that I'd placed a bid on another Clerk/Typist III position in another part of the department (and a different building). The position posting was closing that same day, and I didn't really expect it to go anywhere so I didn't think it was worth mentioning.

I interviewed for...
