Got to love computers. I received the PSU I was waiting on, swapped it in...and the computer still won't turn on. At least, it won't turn on all the way. What it does *now* is light up for a few seconds, make a weird grinding sort of noise that I do not like at all, and shut off. It won't repeat the process unless I...

More Steamband play. Tried running a French Gentleman, wasn't doing *too* badly, but got gangbanged by a bunch of too-fast-breeding Daddy Longlegs that managed to surround me. Tried a couple of Old One Dashing Hussars. First one went all right. The constant exp drain is the single factor around which an Old One character revolves. I managed to gain one level by triggering a Giant...

Heh. Old comics are fun. Reading the first "Essential Fantastic Four" collection, (which is to say, the first twenty issues and annual of the original Fantastic Four comic). Some interesting tendencies that modern comics tend not to exhibit, like the way they break every issue up into 5 or 6 minichapters. And the way every single issue so far has found it necessary to spend...

I should have known better. Bragging about your Angband character, no matter the variant, invites swift death. (So does drinking unidentified potions.) In this case, I lost my last wound point, putting me inches away from death. So I drank a potion in the hopes that it was curative...and, no, it was an Emetic and caused me to puke my guts out and die of...

I've been addicted to Roguelikes off and on, starting on my family's Macintosh Performa several years ago, with Moria. After a while I switched to Angband. Then more recently I discovered Angband variants like ZAngband and the like. I never really cottoned to ZAngband, though. I don't want a wilderness, or quests, or special levels. Not really. And while some of the new classes/races...

Ordered a replacement power supply today. *PLEASE* let this fix the problem. I can't afford to spend 60 bucks on something that I can't use. Nor can I afford to spend much more money fixing the computer. I've got other things I need to be buying, like a bus ticket to see my family for Christmas, maybe some presents..paying the school their stupid 40 dollar...

I find it terribly funny that a guy who's complaining in an immigration thread about how non-English speakers are fucking up US society is an ardent fan of Rammstein...who sing only in German.
I suppose he'd worry more if they moved to the US.

I agree about the tone of my first post on the issue. I realize that it started off well enough, but eventually turned into more of a rant. In either case, I'll check out OOMPH and see what I think. I listen to plenty of foreign music, ironically (mostly German/Russian), so I'm sure that I'll enjoy it.

I don't purchase CD's too much anymore, as I usually end up ripping the tracks to my hard drive, anyway. I find that http://www.allofmp3.com/ has a great selection of foreign music, and it typically only costs around $.15 per song if you choose to encode at 192kbps.
I preferred http://delit.net/ for a long time, but their "instant" credit card payment typically takes 2 or more days to affect your account's balance. However, I prefer this site for Russian music, as they actually make an effort to translate the Russian characters to their respective English characters, which makes it so much easier for me to find the one I'm looking for in my playlist.
Naturally, downloading Russian music from peer-to-peer services isn't much of an option, as it's typically very difficult to find many users with Russian music who actually stay connected for very long.
If you actually want the physical discs, however, you may want to try Coconuts Music (if you have those in your area), as they can typically order imports for you. That's how I managed to get one of Megaherz's albums, so I'd certainly give that a look.

Downloaded Rammstein's new album, Rosenrot. I'll be buying it virtually the second it hits US shelves, not to worry. But I can't handle what could be months of waiting. And sure enough, it's excellent. Reminds me of why I love the band so much. Lots of gorgeous background music and the occasional offbeat instrument. Deep, gravelly singing from Till Lindemann. Lyrics that sound about as...

Watching the fifth season of Oz on DVD. I hate to say it, but I think the series went downhill in season four and probably never quite recovered. In part I think the problem is that they've got most of the same characters still around and still the focus and they're running out of plot to wrap around them. Too many over the top storylines...

I am still PC-free. Given that, of the 225 dollars I had at the beginning of this paycheck, roughly 135 have gone to pay miscellaneous bills and recurring charges (SG, Gamefly, Netflix pretty soon), and another 30 to food and miscellaneous movie-related expenses (to wit, getting cash from a machine), leaving me with perhaps 50 dollars to spare, and another week and a half to...
