This netbook is a definitive success. It's no powerhouse, but it runs secondary computing substantially better than my ancient and creaky Mac, and has a number of smart concessions to the necessarily shrunken keyboard space, while packing in more helpful keyboard functionality than most I've used. I'm particularly thankful for the key combination that toggles the trackpad. I definitely appreciate having the trackpad for on...

Yeah, I live on the second floor, so when they knock downstairs I don't hear it unless I'm sitting in the living room or TV room in dead silence.

Well, to be honest, I draw on paper-writing skills a lot on this site, so I guess it's a useful skill if you waste your life on internet forumstongue

I've linked to Jenna Moran (creator of the incredible indie RPG Nobilis) before, but I recently discovered that she'd put a whole bunch of free PDFs of various RPG-related content on her site back. If you're interested in roleplaying games and/or systems, you really ought to check these out. If you're not, but you like unusual, evocative fantasy concepts, there's enough material here in examples...

Okay. A helpful friend with a car and some fiddling at the ridiculously inaccessible UPS shipping center later, and I has (replacement) Xbox. So, back to Arkham Asylum. One plus of that whole experience is that Microsoft support was thoughtful enough to include a 1 month Live Gold subscription card, which should nicely compensate for the time I wasn't able to use on my active...

I really liked Susan, too, but if you haven't read the books you can't really understand what's going on, and that was the biggest flaw to me. Also, my white extensions didn't turn out the way I wanted them to, so it annoyed me to look at them.
otoki:
Haha.

Have I mentioned that I hate signature required delivery? Have I mentioned that I hate it a really really lot? That I think it fucking defeats the entire purpose of having things shipped to my door? Yeah. Fuck.

Also, I hate Microsoft. Seething hatred.

Specifically - my Xbox 360 broke. Many of you may know this already. I shipped it off, it arrived, they "repaired"...

Public service announcement:

Zombieland is great. See it.

Do -not-, however, read reviews of it. It's not a twist film or anything, but there's a great scene later in the movie that too many reviews give away ahead of time.

What a month. My phone, DVD drive, and 360 have all died on me (well, waiting on a final confirmation of death on the 360, as it just happened a couple hours ago) and my job is on death row, with any stay of execution in the hands of a Republican governor. (Fuck Tim Pawlenty. Fuck him so much.)

I got a Kyocera (sp?) XTC. It looks pretty awesome!
morgan:
I honestly just didn't get the Rumor because it was more expensive and all I was really looking for was a full keyboard! So I imagine the XTC will (hopefully) work well for me.

As a followup to my previous journal entry, I've managed to locate a Youtube video of Stahlhammer's "Can't Touch This" cover. (No actual video. I wish they'd done a music video of it.)

I just made a ringtone out of (Austrian metal band) Stahlhammer's cover of MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This".

Yes, I am proud of myself.

It was sort of a last minute thing, as in organized last night. Then, she called me right before i was supposed to pick her up and canceled, and then work called me in, and I desperately need to catch up on bills so I went in (which turned out to be a shit idea).
otoki:
That looks like fun. Yeah, it's going to be a while before I can go again because of bills and school. If it seems like I'll be able to cover the remaining 4700 this month sooner than I thought, then I'll definitely skip work on a Friday. If fucking hate working fridays anyway.

Oh, and I just found mine too. A girl at work thought it was hers (she and I had the old chocolate, and got the new one around the same time).
otoki:
What is it that you like about it? I want to keep that in mind for next year's upgrade.
