Roughly 9 months ago, I was informed by the director of the Adult Services Division that due to the combination of financial mismanagement and a Republican in the governor's management at the state level, our county government was being fucked up the ass monetarily and my position was being cut at the end of this year (plenty of notice, thankfully). Though obviously in somewhat different words.
Over the subsequent time, I've seen perhaps 8 or 9 Clerk Typist internal job postings, 4 or 5 of which I rejected due to lack of interest, lack of paid hours (part time positions, that is), or similar. 5 I bid on, 4 of which I received interviews for, including one this morning. Shortly after lunch, I got that job.
My future is now much less up in the air. This pleases me. (It transpires that I have enough seniority that I would have bumped the least senior person in my job classification if I'd needed to at the end of the year, but why do that if I don't have to?)
