Boy, this has been a night of stuff-getting. My Amazon packages arrived (almost a week after I ordered them with 2-day shipping...I guess New Year's must've really fucked things up.), containing my $6 dollar new MPD Psycho I DVD, which I ordered to complement the $3 used copies of volumes II and III I picked up back in Iowa.

Also my $20 new Carnivale Season 2 (SO....HAPPY. SQUEE!), which was a crazy deal - might still be going on both seasons, and I heartily recommend taking advantage of it if you have the slightest inclination in that direction. I heart the show utterly and I am very sad it was cancelled before its natural conclusion - although, never fear, the two seasons are complete and form the first of three chapters of the story, so should tie up somewhat satisfactorily.

And my $70 Angel Collector's Edition Boxset - all five seasons in one lovely, cubical package. The lid lifts to allow one side to fall out, showing David Boreanaz's face on the side of the DVD cases and the rest of the cast on the inside of the dropped side. Five little square DVD cases, each containing an entire season worth of DVDs. An episode guide booklet. And a signed letter from Joss Whedon. Awesome, pretty cheap (as these things go), and far nicer packaging than I was expecting - I thought it'd just be a big box with 30 little slimline DVD cases.

Plus I noticed some wonderful individual secured for me the complete Invader Zim collection off my wishlist - hasn't arrived yet, but no big deal there. Probably my aunt, whose original Christmas present proved to be something I'd recently acquired for myself and who was going to return it and buy something else off my list.

So there's all that, and then, on my way back from work I stopped at a mall for dinner with my ex-stepdad and we wound up browsing at the Land's End Not Quite Perfect outlet/inlet/whatever, with the intent to maybe use some of my $100 Land's End gift card on steeply discounted merchandise. And indeed I did. It's a little surprising to me how happy I am about this purchase - I just don't get excited about clothes usually. I think it's mostly the scope of the bargain I got. The item? A lovely, thickly lined parka with a hood, tightenable lower hem, plenty of pockets (even on the sleeves!) both inside and out. It's a very nice coat that should nicely replace (or maybe complement) my battered old green parka, originally purchased several years ago and starting to wear out. List price? $150 (which seems steep to me, but whatever). Discount price due to Not Quite Perfection (in this case, it's monogrammed with the letters AJS unobtrusively. Not my initials, but whatever.): $89. What I paid after various temporary discounts? $35. Off a gift card. *happies*

And then found the last two volumes of Ed Brubaker's excellent superpowered noir comic, Sleeper for 50% of list price each at the mall's Barnes and Nobles. I don't have the other two at the moment, but I've been wanting the whole thing and that was too good a deal to pass up.

Whee. And...I still very likely have another Christmas present upcoming from a friend who's been out of town.
