I don't know how many of you remember Talisman, the old Games Workshop fantasy hack-n-slash boardgame. The host of the game party I go to every week has the second edition (third came out, I guess, but sounds much less interesting.) and all the expansions, including a pretty professional fan-made expansion that one of the other regulars put together based on Warhammer's chaos-related material. While we don't break it out super-regularly, because it tends to take quite a while, I'm usually up for it. It used to be about my favorite boardgame around until Fantasy Flight released the new Arkham Horror (which does a lot of the things I liked about Talisman, only better.). We played again tonight, and I kicked ass as usual. It's strange, because I'll tell you right now that the game is very largely random (fun, but random), so it's not that I'm good at the game, it's that I seem to wind up with all the luck almost all the time.

And then I was doubly excited because when I got home, I turned on my PC, and it booted right up, whee!

See, my 200GB drive has had data-loss issues in the past, and recently it's been cranky again, so I downloaded a disk-fixing program, burned it to CD, and set it going on Wednesday. Yesterday around 4 am it was still going, still stuck about 6% of the way from the end but progressing ever so slightly. This morning it had completely stalled and wouldn't even exit when I told it to. I rebooted, and my drives were not detected. I thought that the 200GB had finally completely crapped out, but I didn't have time to investigate because I had to get to work. So I turned off the computer and left, thinking about the horrors of the situation I believed myself to be in. (There's quite a bit of stuff on that drive that I'd like to keep, thanks.)

But apparently it was just...I dunno, tired or something.
