If I were ever to come into a very large sum of money, this is what I would do.

I would rent (or buy) a fairly small commercial space in some mall or shopping district. Then I would go around buying single copies of essentially any book I could get my hands on. Then I would very carefully and painstakingly go through each one. I...

Finished Half-Life 2 last night. Have to say, the Citadel areas were not the most visually exciting in the world (although the perilous descent to actually get in was...nervewracking.). They were nonetheless probably my favorite of the entire game. Why? The super gravity gun. The best weapon in the history of the FPS, I am confident in saying.

For those of you who do not...

Really haven't had that much to say. Oblivion has basically fallen by the wayside at this point, between game-installing and American Gothic watching, and most importantly, the discovery of www.underground-gamer.com.

It is essential that I build my ratio there, which means making torrents, uploading them, and then seeding the stuffing out of them. And if there's one thing I'm sure of with Oblivion, it's that...

It's actually from the Prose Edda, an ancient norse story. Tolkein would have been familiar with it.

I only game on the computer a very little.

A minor little acquisition notice:

The 300 gigabyte Seagate Barracude SATAII hard drive I ordered last Thursday showed up today. I got it installed with surprisingly little fuss. I now have a total of (theoretically) 500 GBs of storage on my PC. I have this strange suspicion it's going to run out sooner than one might suppose.

I went a bit nuts at Gamestop and...

Right. I've now become guildmaster of both the Thieves' Guild and the Dark Brotherhood. I am also a vampire. At this point I'm strongly considering just finishing up the main quest and abandoning this character. My interest level has dropped dramatically.

I think a big chunk of it is being a vampire. The stat boosts and powers are really handy, but I'm starting to get...

Interesting Oblivion bugs:

I was emerging from an Ayleid ruin, when the graphics went completely to hell and the game chugged into frozenness. I was briefly worried that it was my videocard, but I rebooted, loaded the autosave and everything displayed normally except...wait...my character had been divested of all equipped weaponry and armor and it looked like just about every other nonstolen item. All the...

Since I have my gaming computer available to me again, I have, as one would surmise, been playing a lot more Oblivion. I'm really loving playing a thief/sniper type character. As my sneak improves I've been able to pull off bigger and bigger heists, and I'm assembling quite a collection of pickpocketed keys. And being able to instakill many enemies with a single fully-charged arrow...

Watched Advent Children. My god was that awesome. So much better than the theatrical Final Fantasy movie, both by virtue of drawing on an actual game setting and characters (arguably the best one, even), and by virtue of having some absolutely insane action sequences. I'm not sure it would have large mainstream appeal, because about half my reaction comes from loving seeing some of my...

I loved seeing all the characters again, but it felt like a damn Dragon Ball Z episode.
It also reminded me of how little I like Nomura.

Today my XFX GeForce 7600GT XXX Edition (aka the hottest...er...best 200 dollar video card on the market) arrived. Small box, compared to the monstrous ones my previous cards came in. Possibly because there was basically no packaging. Card, driver CD, monitor adapter, HDTV connector cable. S'all.

Installation was, quite literally, a snap. It snapped right in, and I was done.

And my computer, it works...

A me update:
I am now done with my Java Programming 2 class. Final total was about 3 actual assignments completed and handed in, one assignment kind-of-completed and handed in, and one completely freestyled program which I turned in to point out that I could use sockets. This out of ~10 assignments. I got a C. (there were no tests except for the final, which...

Elvis sure is popping up in my life unusually much lately. The last three books I've read have involved him in some capacity (two of them tangentially, the current one involves a parallel Elvis being abducted to serve as messiah to a Church of Elvis) and now I just watched Wild At Heart, where Nicholas Cage plays a very...Elvis-inspired...character, at least in look and voice.

You didn't miss anything in the dialogue. I think the whole point of the monotone delivery everyone had was to empasize the stagnation of the culture, but it didn't make it any more interesting.

I've been putting off my Java Programming 2 homework forever and ever and ever. I have two days left to get this stuff in or I will probably fail the class. I was beginning to question whether I really wanted to go into programming. It seems like I'll probably wind up in some sort of office/data entry work immediately post-college anyhow, I could just make...
