Today it rained again, but I witnessed a unique phenomenon I'd never been privy to before. It happened while I walked across a vast parking area while a heavy rainfall drenched me. The sun shone brilliantly despite the rain and at my feet a thick mist soon took to the air. It resembled a bog often represented in films where witches or ghosts or any other dastardly thing might be lurking, waiting to make anyone jump in fright. It baffled me. It was like a smoke machine was left on somewhere and the mist had pooled over and escaped into the rain. I sat and watched it for several minutes, excited. Then I felt foolish. Surely this wasn't that unique of a phenomenon; surely others had witnessed Mother Nature's mist trick before. Soon, other people came across me and gawked at the sight, too. This reassured me. It was indeed weird and relatively odd to see this combination of heavy rain, bright sunlight and a steady, white mist. I don't know why it mattered that someone else should confirm my wonder, but it made me feel better. I guess it's that old habit of distrusting myself; doubting my eyes. Stupid fool...
