anyhow ... lets talk about work....
I am referred to as a "Lot Tech" although there really isn't anything TECHNICAL about my job.... I think they call us that specifically so they can get away with having us do more than we're supposed to.
seriously... we walk around with "walkie-Talkies" and almost every 5 minutes someone is whining for a Lot tech to come do something for them....
okay we have our OWN SHIT to deal with... in the middle of the day today the busiest possible time... I come on... and I am the only Lot Tech for a good 2-3 hours... when I got there there were NO shopping carts in the racks (despite the numerous signs telling customers to put them back none ever do... and I mean NONE) anyhow I manage to get the main rack (returns) full up to about half way by myself... the customers keep comming and the aisles I just cleared are of course cluttered up again within minutes.
people are so lazy. I mean EVERYONE too. not just the customers... most of which are BEYOND dumb. the other part of our job is loading up customers when they NEED Help. however it is quite rare that we are helping, no my friends, usually we are doing their work for them. I'm not complaining I get paid by the hour... it dosen't matter how much or how little work I do, I will still get paid.
it's absolutely STUPID that eveyone inside the store feels that they need to pull us inside so we can go and pull an order for them, when they SHOULD be able to do it themselves. there are NO female Lot techs (I wonder why) and only 2 females working at my store even have forklift liscenses. recently we have lost 2 of our Lot tech Forklift drivers... and 3 of us are trying to get our liscenses for them. it makes us more versitile... but it also means we won't have to push shopping carts all damn day... we will be loading customers up, usually contractors who need alot of supplies at once. anyhow... I'm just bitching about how absurdly annoying it is that EVERYONE in the store customers and associates alike feel like the lot techs are their cure all. we get shit on the most, from all angles. USUALLY for things that are not our fault.
I LONG for the day I get to move inside the store, even if that means plumbing, 6 aisles worth of work is still far less than a whole store including the parking lot.
