Wow. I'm amazed anyone outside of Michigan has ever even heard of or remembers Universal Stomp. Your roommate is definately tapped into the good stuff They're an oldschool hardcore band from the Detroit area, and they fucking throw down. They're not around anymore, but their singer is currently playing drums in a newer Detroit band called Gavin Black, whom you should also check out. Which disc did you get? Full Swing is great, a little more classic metal style, but I think 2296 is their best album. The band was playing a show at the Foundry in Detroit on Feb. 2nd, 1996, and a fight broke out between a security guy and a fan, and a gun joined the mix...both guys died. It broke the band apart, but in 1998, they got all the original members together to write 2296, and the album is pissed.

Also check out Today I Wait (www.todayiwait.com) another D-town band that kicks ass, I grew up with those clowns and used to play in a band with their bass player, great bunch of guys.
