You know, for the most part I'm not disturbed by references to the morbid or macabre, but I've got to say, Kokeshi just kinda weirds me out.
I dunno. I kinda want to ask her why she named herself after strangling children, or whether she knows, but then again, if she doesn't know the unfortunate history behind the cute little dolls, I also don't want to ruin it for her.
Not to mention going up to someone and saying "Hey, did you know the dolls you got your name from translate literally to 'child-extinguishing' and were originally made for shrines to children murdered by their parents who couldn't feed them anymore?'" is probably way creepier than being named that.
My old Japanese teacher needed a good page from the "ignorance is bliss" book.
