Well, it took me less time to find a new job than it did to finish quitting my old job. My two weeks' notice hasn't even run out yet, and I've already got an offer. The AI research firm down in McLean said they thought the interview went really well, and that I should expect a formal offer some time early next week. As far as other options, the biotech firm doesn't seem to be organized enough to manage their hiring process, so that's sort of stalled out. I had a couple of phone interviews with an international consultancy firm, though, which seems promising. That leaves me with a bith of a dilemma, though: would I rather stay close to home and always work on the same thing (albeit something incredibly fascinating), or handle more practical, less interesting topics but with frequent changes and company-paid international travel? Generalize and work with everyone, or specialize and delve into new territory? I'm kind of setting the tone for my whole career, so it's sort of an important choice...
