I know I love to dwell on how fucked up the tagging on this site can be (I have to admit that overall it's a success, and the signal still beats out the noise), but even I was a little startled to see "bukkake" in the "recent tags" list. As of writing, the tag goes to these
two sets. The latter one with the cake icing, I can kinda see as being suggestive thereof, but I can't even fathom what the tagger was thinking for the first one. Methinks someone's not up-to-date on their creepy Japanese fetishes. (And the internet is a slightly better place for that innocence. I'd un-know it if I could.)
For a four-day work week, that sure dragged the fuck along. They are once again struggling to find sufficient work to keep me busy, and now they've banned IM from the network. Great, now I'm bored and I don't have any friends to talk to.
Double Win! I guess it's not too big a deal, since Google Chat in Gmail still works, but it's annoying that they're even making the effort. I need to learn to invest so I can ascend to the leisure class. Considering my limited-expense lifestyle, how hard can it possibly be to pay for it in interest and dividends? (Well, hard, thanks to steadily-rising rents, but I'm thinking I might buy a place anyway).

Also, I think things are now settled between me and Christie. She had a vague reference to dating someone up on her profile, so I asked her about it, and she said I'd come off as not really interested and she'd accepted someone else's offer of a date. I consider this a pretty satisfactory outcome, all told. I'd have liked to have a casual relationship with her, but I don't think that's the kind of dating she wants to do. Anyway, I'm too spoiled for a regular girl at this point. All my exes are Ivy-league PhD this, 7 languages that, and so on. Even the girls I just hang out with end up being people like
Aaraa: she's gorgeous, fascinating, well-travelled, and a talented musician to boot (plus a little extra cachet from being a Suicide Girl). Yeah, she's gonna help me adjust to the lower calibers of girls out here. I liked Christie and all, but an average-looking web designer who still lives with her parents in the suburbs just doesn't look so good by comparison. I tried to not compare, I really did, and then I met Tanya, who absolutely does look good even by comparison (but is married, of course), and I was once again spoiled.
I really need to lower my standards or find a better way to meet women. Or at least to meet more women, so I can sift through and find the gems more often.
I did get to go to a birthday party this week. Amanda turned a year older Thursday, and we had a little dinner that was as awkward as that social group always is, since the who-dislikes-whom is too complicated for a human being to track. By the time you get more than 4 or 5 people in the same room, there's at least one quarrel going on. Still, I'm not involved in any of them, and I got ice cream cake, so I had a pretty good time. As long as I can play Switzerland, drama doesn't get to me. Also, I was pleased to present Amanda with a Playstation 2, so that we can continue our love affair with horror games. We're supposed to go out tomorrow and dig through the bargain bins to see what old classics we can get for $5 apiece. My money's on "quite a few of them," now that the stores are trying to focus on the PS3.
