Did you see they fantastic Nova show about the Black Scholes Option pricing model and Long Term Capital Management last night? I worked on the option exchange floor then during the introduction of handhelds and the Asia crisis. Those traders are nutso intense.

Somehow watching it scared me, it reminded me how palpable the terror was of the idea of moving up to being a floor trader. I had a job offer once, to trade in a pit with a hand held calculator that spit out Black Scholes numbers but I was too nervous of a kid. I turned it down for a suburban sales assitant job at Dean Witter.

Seeing the film also made me want to revisit that terror in an uncomfortable way. I'm not terribly greedy by nature but if the money is right in front of me, and my brain is being challenged to comprehend how. But isn't trading evil gambling/stealing?

See? I'd go into it with a lot of conflict.
