Here's the news at 7:00am

Jealousy is a product of competition
Competition is a product of limited (or percieved limited) resources)

In the stone age food production was laborious and much less fruitful, therefore competition was higher.

In our complex, cooperative age, there is much less need for competition. Food production is so successful that people can make money to buy food by producing art.

However jealousy is a conditioning, and like any conditioning may produce illness if it is changed suddenly and not changed gradually. In other word put 2 hippies in a room with limited resources for long enough and they will be passive aggressive until one of them can twist his mind into a pretzel far enough to finally "justify" killing the other.

By the law of association you can also work on jealosuy by working on competition without the direct confrontation with passive aggresion and pretzel logic conclusions.

Competition in sex:

If you are more competitive then equally you experience less pleasure, or less of amother person, and earn more "points" instead.

You don't get sexual experiences, you get "scores".

Thats all for this morning

Update in 12 hours.

So jealousy and competition will always exist on some level. The strain of reduction of jealousy and competition for the benefit of a larger stronger community is human evolution.
However you still must compete for jobs that bring food and shelter.

Perhaps one day in a perfect anarchy this will no longer be the case. Still even then there will be one remaining scarce resource that will ensure some vestigle jealousy.

Time.

Everyone will always need to compete with themselves in the form of the time they have remaining left to live.

This is where the circle returns to sex. Reproduction is the ultimate fantasy of timelessness.

By fantasy I mean, pretend, play, or even practice. There is an old study that came up with the concept "emotional intelligence". In the study the researchers would place a child in the room with a plate, with a cookie. They would tell the child that they will return in ten minutes, that if the child wanted he/she could eat the cookie but if they wait he'she could have two instead of just the one. The children that managed to delay their gratification would be found to play with the cookie and pretend to eat it.

Children play full time, playing house, or cowboys, or anything that interests us. Late as adolescents we drink coffee, or alcohol, and cigarettes, and have sex, so that we can feel as though we are becoming adults, but we are playing, we are still adolescents. Similarly I believe we use play to cope with all types of delayed gratification situations. We pretend to experience the threat of death, and we pretend to be the people and we want to be, until we start to become them, or we change our minds. We pretend that there is an afterlife too.

Playing is coping and practicing, just like comedy is tension relief.

So regarding sex for pleasure, it is the fantasy of reproduction. Masturbation of the mind, in the form of media and imagination, and masturbation of body is the fantasy of sex. There is no layer of fantasy over masturbation and in its place is self awareness.

This brings us back to time.

Of course it is ever cyclic, but this is when time becomes important, and you HAVE to be jealous and you HAVE to compete, because ultimately that is the real world, and like the real world it just goes around and around.

It is a common observation that a funeral causes lots of sex to occur.
