Went to see the Curiosa festival last night. Robert Smith was like a shimmering, singing, soot-headed blance-mange. He is the Pavoratti of post-punk. Spider was great, In Between days was great. The scary thing was the last time I saw them was EIGHTEEN YEARS AGO in the summer of 1986. I really can't believe the same shit is still going on. Some current Suicidegirls, now old enough to take off their clothes, pierce their labia, and horrify their parents were not even born when I saw the Cure last.
Also fantastic last night: Interpol. Those guys are real pro's. It was actually them whom we went to see, and they were well worth the ticketmaster price raping. I'm looking forward to the ANTIC album, but I think they need to branch out a little. Even Joy Division/New Order had to stop moping eventually.
The roiling, rolling clouds of a storm from are passing overhead. It is eleven AM and it looks like eight pm. We're in for a real dusie of a summer storm. I'm going to put on my rain coat and hat and go out a enjoy it when the first heavy drops start to hit. Bye Bye.
