Just this past weekend a whole crew of woodpeckers invaded my backyard, including three pileateds. It was fun.
I have never mist-netted, but my sister has - she's a much bigger bird-nerd than I am, and is currently doing a field position on an island in the canadian maritimes. I hope you get the field position - my sister is loving hers, even if it's practically unpaid.
