Second day working at RadioShack and I'm still undecided as to weather I like it or not. It's a bit of a drive and I get shitty gas mileage to begin with. It seems like it will be pretty complicated and right now its just me and the manager. I'm sore as fuck since I'm not used to being on my feet for 10 hours a day. As a "sales associate" I'm expected to approach the customers and "help" them make a decision to buy. This will be pretty hard for me since I'm really introverted and this store seems like it will be REALLY busy.

On the plus side, we get commissions if we sell enough and we get spiffs for service plans and phones. With this much business, especially approaching the holiday season, I should be making bank. My manager seems like a pretty cool guy. He doesn't take shit from anyone, but at least I don't have to worry about fucking up 200 times without knowing it. He seems like a good teacher so far and thats nice because there is a lot to learn. I think we'll get along well. And the view up there is beautiful.

Time will tell.

Peace
Andy

I was incredibly introverted when I started working for Hot Topic, at the age of sixteen. Not to mention that it was my first job, so I was really unsure of how to even associate with my bosses and coworkers. I was really shy about approaching customers, and needless to say, after 6 months, I was put on probation. The thought of being fired from a job angered me so much that I made a complete turn around and by my next evaluation I was screaming "hello!" at customers from across the store, making conversatiion about whatever music they seemed to be in to (most of the time it was shitty), and just generall being customer-service-help-girl. So yeah, In the face of possible expulsion, I got over my introvertedness (at least as far as work went) really quickly. As far as the holiday rush, good luck, I can completely empathize with you on that one. smile ARRR!!!

andy, it seems like a great opportunity to rehearse not being so introverted. i was the same way in my 20s, now people tell me i am an extroverted eccentric... dont go that far! btw - you still owe me $1.50. <LOL!
