as i was driving along
the other day
i saw a dead thing
on the side of the street

it wasn't mangeled
or bloody, or anything
just kinda layin there
holdin up its feet

and that made me laugh

i got to thinking
about that dead thing
a couple of questions
ran through my mind

like, where was it going to
what was on the other side
what was he thinking when he
got hit and died
