Hello Mme. G! I noticed your mention of The Atrocity Exhibition in the Lit Club group. While I admit I haven't read any of Ballard's work, David Cronenberg's film Crash was based on that book. It always amazes me what people eroticize... But whatever gets one through the night, eh? smile

money fucking money. i made almost exactly 1/10 of what you made last year, and i'm having a great time. my artwork is finally becoming popular and appreciated, people are throwing themselves onto me and asking for the secret, and i'm just good enough to be an asshole to the pretentious fucksticks pretending to understand the meaning behind my work.

so, i guess my point is this - being semi-known in the midwest is like being on fire in zimbabwe - nobody gives a fuck. so let's chat. - i'd love to get the inside scoop on what's up-and -coming in the only city that really matters. fucking art. what a worthwhile pain in the ass.

I woke up this morning with a terrible feeling of unease, as if the world had gone of the tracks, but it hadn't been discovered yet. The feeling that the doorbell would ring, and someone would be delivering bad news, the sound of a flame being drowned in the candle wax, a small voice, far away, calling for help...

Yesterday Katie talked about taking herself out for dinner, and it made me realize how much I love being alone. I go to movies by myself, eat in restaurants by myself, walk and people watch by myself. New York is a wonderful place for lone wolves who love to be surrounded by people. A lot of people that I know don't do this, or think...

yes , yes, and yes.....i always like to go to movies by myself or go on a walk by myself just to walk and sometimes clear my mind

I like to be alone sometimes... it's good to be by yourself with your thoughts and sometimes without your thoughts. I don't go places by myself much... but i do walk around malls sometimes and just watch the folks as they do their thing. (not too often though cuz i hate malls) I also wouldn't be able to survive in NYC too long... i can visit for short bursts but living there would be too much for a country boy like myself.

oh and you are the first person from the site who's even responded or showed any interest in Alice Aycock. She rocks! It seems like everyone else in the artists group is all about computer art and graphics and shit, but me i guess i'm old school... give me sculptors and glassblowers and i'm happy. smile

There is an article about Masturbation in Literature at Clean Sheets.

But I was interested more in the sidebar, which had this bit from the movie Nico and Dani:

Dani introduces Nico to a novel way to masturbate. You sit on your hand until it becomes numb, and then imagine it's somebody else's hand getting you off.

Now that's interesting. I've never thought of numbing...
