By now you have all seen the news article from last week that listed the top 10 songs that men confess make them cry. I read it hoping that I've not been wrong in avoiding certain songs in public all these years only to find that time has passed me by. The men that were used in this poll must have been between the ages of 15 and 30...give or take.

While I agreed with 4 of the songs listed, the rest were songs that either would never make me cry or I had never heard of...and I did go through Youtube to try and get an appreciation for these songs that manly men claim bring them to their knees.

The disconnect between most of those songs and myself prompted me to make my own little list...so here goes...

The Top 10 Songs That Make Macq Cry like A Baby

#10. A Tie Between
Angel Of The Morning by Merrilee Rush and Every Time You Go Away by Paul Young

#9.Stand By Your Man by Tammy Wynette
I was torn here...I also love Lyle Lovett's version but it truly only makes me cry at the end of "The Crying Game", so I couldn't put it here.blush

#8.I Will Always Love You by Dolly Parton

#7.He Stopped Loving Her Today by George Jones

#6. Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers
Especially if Demi Moore is in the room saying "Ditto"

#5. Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinead O'Connor

#4. Tears In Heaven by Eric Clapton

#3. Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley

#2. Last Kiss by J. Frank Wilson and The Cavaliers

And now...The #1 song that makes me cry at the second note...One of the schlockiest pop songs of all time...Even after all these years, I will avoid this song like the plague if there is even a chance someone will see me break down like a little baby....(Drum roll please)...

Honey by Bobby Goldsboro

Yes...I am listening to it right now...Someone hand me a hankie goddammit!!!:frown

So there you have it...My Geezer-Normed list of cry baby songs that still make me puddle up every time...smilemadbiggrinblushsurreal

I have not come across the article about songs that make men boohoo, but thanks for your list, I will keep those off of the mix cds wink
Your #2 and I had a period of obsession in high school for some reason (dare I say depression, teen angst, and that song go together really well? Also, I had a real thing for 'story songs').
And well, you know about my deep seated love of Dolly Parton kiss

ps: yes, I am up writing this at 2:34am, I (and my cat) would sleep better if there were an extra half degree in our bed.
