It is definitely worth it. The problem with the last 30 minutes of the series finale is that it was just lazy writing. IT was over for them, and they just had to wrap it up. But it doesn't take away from the show at all. Everything up to the last 30 minutes of the final episode are so brutally amazing, well written and well performed that the finale is excusable. It was kind of like the last episode of Buffy...you thought you knew what was going to happen and when it kind of just went...blah. Check out Battlestar Galactica, not even 1 episode in entire series goes into a downwary spiral of shit.
