Man....I bought a bvook on Celtic Mythology, sort of a dictionary of who and what. Its a small book, and sort of Vague....I forgrt how much I love the history of the celts. We know almost nothing about them. They could write, but choose not to do so, Letting oral tradition hold thier memories and secrets. Much of what was known is now lost forever. And mabye thats for the best (The truth and discovery part of me cringes when I say that.),I mean after all, The Celts are shrouded in mystrey and romantisism, because of it. Thier legends and lore were adopted and adapted to Christian and Arthireian Myths.

They did not look upon death as we, And thier lives were full of art and music and celebration, in ways that we experience on occasion, but only with the tiniest inclincling of what they had. Its just not possible with todays scociety, with so many people in populated areas. And we know so much, which robs us of our innocence and therefore our ability to enjoy life in a simpler and more fullfiled manner.

The celts were barbaric, warlike and primitive. I often think that if I was somehow transported back in time, I would be appauled at thier attatudes, practices and ingnorance. No doubt, I would be killed almost without thought. Probably sacrificed. I have been to Ireland 3 times no. Always searching and looking for new places and things of Celtic origin. And even Predating that of the Celts. I know I have not seen it all, But the more I go the Less I am able to see that is new to me. So little remaines form a culture that spaned most of the eastern hemisphere. And thought they try, even the Irish are starting to forget.

Ireland was one of the only places where the celts were not absorbed compleatly by another culture. Well not at least until Chrisitanity entered into the mix, But even so, prehaps of the primitive aspect of Celtic life, such as thier lack of written record or the fact that thier buldings were not made of perminat matireals,

The acient Celts have been coverd by time far more throuly than any other civilization of the era. When I was in Ireland, my one goal was to visit TARA. The royal hill in Co. Meath, which is the center of many Celtic myths, legands and histories. I had been thier before and my disire grows more to visit every time I reach the emarald isle. There is almost nothing at Tara. A few Hillocks, large though they m,ay be, do but barley hint at what used to be there. Tara has been a place of power for thousands of years. Thousands. And you can feel it. I spent a just about an hour there this last time. And with great regret, I left. I am going back one day and spending a DAY there.

There is mystry thier. Ghosts and spirits reside in the passage tombs, springs, and age old trees. I imagine the mythological religion that the people who inhabited that place. A people who belived that water could heal, magic was possible, and the dead were closer to our world when the mist came. I want to find that mystry, embrace it...and let the showedy beings of the shide take me away to thier underground kingdoms of alien splendor.
