July already. The summer is moving quickly. August and the long weekend in September loom too near on the horizon -already casting their shadows in this direction. When I was younger summers seemed so much longer, time slowed, somebody pushed the pause button and we were all frozen in a snapshot between school years -a timeout called so everyone could relax, recharge, and catch their breath. Now time just keeps moving at a steady pace like a distance runner and the months, holidays, seasons are all just markers on the road to show forward motion. The only breaks now are when I slow for a brief moment -like that runner easing up just enough at a water station to take a sip or throw a paper cup towards his face -but these are a long way from a childhood summer. July already.

I realized that most of my posts have to deal with the passage of time. I think I'm constantly looking over my shoulder, hoping that I'll get enough done before I'm done.
