I let it get too close.
My base is just a quarter turn and a hop and skip to the left. To take this photo I had to reload a save twice. The first time I loaded it up the stupid thing jumped me and started killing everything.
The second time it was a bit further away.
So I finally checked out a video and discovered that Wyverns are actually weaker than the rock elemental. I was actually kind of depressed about the ultra excessive health nerf to Rock Elementals once tamed because it can't fight a wild one. It went from 25000 health to 3000. I figured what chance would it have against a Wyvern.
This Wyvern went down like it had a glass jaw.
Oh.
Being that my only previous encounter with Wyverns was having my survivor and Argentavis roasted.. It really doesn't figure that rock elementals would basically be invulnerable to them.
Well then.. I do believe it is almost time to make a trap for these assholes. But I'm not understanding the concept of having a trap if they can't fight Elementals. Just have a small hut with the essentials inside and a few of these guarding it. I have just enough cannon balls to tame two more and they are hanging out near my cannon ready to be knocked out. It had taken 6 instead of the expected 3 to knock this one out so I've been trying to stockpile enough materials to have at least enough to take one more down and have the 3rd one sitting in reserve just in case.
This Wyvern though needs to die regardless because he's too close to my base but I wasted the kill. I'll need to slowly lead him back to the base and drop him before he gets too close to aggro anything in the base OR I'll have to move the guard dinos back further into the base before attacking him and hope he waits for me to properly prepare.. sigh
I have 3 Moschops ready to pick an insane amount of prime meat off its bones but I can't get them to the body in time even though it is RIGHT outside my base. The meat would spoil almost instantly.
This is going to be tough.
Attempts 1 and 2 - Failed
Got the salts and guards moved in.. And then it flew straight up before I could move. Wyvern attacked and killed my Sabertooth.
Attempts 3 and 4 - Failure then Success
There's no better way to explain this game's ludicrous default spoilage setting. The Wyvern.. sensing it's imminent demise, bolted deeper into the valley. This I didn't mind although it was a few minutes trying to get its aggro back and pull it back up toward the base.
It was this far away when I took it down. Far enough that I could run in.. grab the Moschops. Release the Moschops next to its corpse then run back into the base and throw the meat on the burner. But I only have 1 industrial stove. 24 units of meat can be cooked at a time but they spoil faster than they can cook. I normally have dozens of pieces from killing Paracers then letting the Moschops at the corpse.
Half of the Wyverns went bad in like 1 minute. At this point I'm not even trying to complain because 24 cooked prime meat is about the best I've managed on this DLC so far. Maybe freezing a portion while some of it cooked might work but there's no point when it's such a mad dash before it instantly spoils. In order to get more and not waste a Wyvern kill despite how easy it is apparently.. I'll just need more burners.
