I feel that Ark.. as unfinished and focused on Multiplayer as it is.. kind of needs this kind of mod to be official.
Something that allows the player to deal with Karma and transmigrate between bodies. Being reborn into an Ark over and over experiencing live as all of the creatures.
Except that the game is kinda fake.
It doesn't really attempt to populate its various biomes with groups and herds of creatures in a way that makes sense. And although they said something like it, flora hasn't evolved at all.
There's so much that hasn't been touched fundamentally in the game but could make it much better and yield many great mods.
Playing as a dino is just as meaningless as playing as a human survivor. Either alone or as part of a herd or tribe the game simply doesn't support a real state of living. I keep mentioning it but there's no life cycle.
You're just spawned in, like all other creatures.. and the limits to what you can do are all focused on bullshit multiplayer balancing.
Several people have asked why this is. Why there isn't just a completely separate PvE and single player mode that doesn't have all these bullshit nerfs and limitations... but in addition to that, a mode where there are real life cycles.
But the game is how old now?
And NO meaningful progress has been made?
Sigh. Too much focus on giving people a struggle and for those that excel at that struggle they make the game even harder for everyone, even people that don't play PvP.
I mean in the video, poor Joe can't even call out to his kind.
This basically isn't supported. There are so many things that would make PvE better and whistling and being able to call out to your own kind is essential. There are SO many little things that you'd know from watching a few nature documentaries that creatures do in their lives. From birth to death there are many behaviors that creatures need to learn to survive and succeed.
Joe should be able to See his own kind, Smell his own kind, Hear his own kind, such that he can live a life as Joe. He can ultimately have more little baby Joes.
As a human survivor this is completely missing. There are no NPCs survivors even though there have been bush people added using mods. That also hasn't been added to the game officially.
Once Joe dies he's reborn as Joe again. OR the player can choose to be something else.
But you only carry over your knowledge.. not your Karma.
It would be so interesting to see All creatures have 'engrams'. Human's have their tools but they should also have behaviors and other knowledge that they can carry over into a new life.
If you had the choice of being reborn as an of the 100 creatures in Ark.. and you could carry certain calls, behaviors, and knowledge over with you.. learning as you go how to mimic the calls of other creatures etc.. their smells.. etc.. Wouldn't the game be more interesting?
If you hear a distressed newborn or juvenile, or an older creature calling out.. any of the 100 creatures, you'd instinctively know what was up. If you should ignore it, investigate it.. or RUN.
As it is there are so little in this game that is real that it really does feel like suffering. Progress of course.. but so slow.
