So I'm all like there's not much to do and it has been like a week. Of course people have put months into Ark, or have been playing since it was first available a couple of years ago, and keep playing it every day.. so even the people that play solo on vanilla and primitive and primitive+ must be getting somewhere.
It's the grind. I went from level 37 which can't do much to just under 70. At 70 and 80-ish I'll get to build the stuff I need to finally take down deathworms and rock golems. I could now but taming the numbers of dinos needed is getting ridiculously tedious. Just on my 3rd Rex and I'm clawing my eyes out.
Then I ran into a Moschops. Rather since getting the Argy I've been seeing things I haven't even seen when playing on the Island. The game is still offering things I'd missed out on.
So I brought it back to camp and it was fine. I wasn't about to start taming it because it is hungry for things I don't have and can't obtain. Or just don't want to. Eventually I said fuck it and got the organic polymer it wanted but that meant going to the edge of the map. I've gotten the hang of not skydiving from the Argy so it was just nerves and getting over them.
I brought it some organic polymer and it was pleased.
Next it asked for Sap. I have that.
It was again pleased.
But then it asked for something I figured it would and I didn't have and didn't have a means to obtain. I don't have raw prime fish meat and to my knowledge there aren't any sharks or sabertooth salmon in the desert. Next option was fishing. So I was like I have a while until the 3rd Rex needs to be fed since I left it starving for 2 days already.. and went fishing with the Argy.
I think I tried fishing before I stopped playing because I had a chair set up on the bank of a little puddle near camp. I sat down and tossed the line out. Caught a fish and figured ok wtv at least I can catch a fish not noticing I had the prime fish meat I needed I jumped onto the Argy and was headed over to the 3rd Rex to feed it finally and complete the tame.
About half way over I said fuck it and check my inventory in time to see the prime fish meat.. Ah.. FUCK.. and tried to pass it to the Argy before turning around and heading back to base to feed the Moschops. Because once I had it tamed I'd be able to level it up in the death pit and get some more of that prime meat shit I needed to make taming more Rexs a joke.
Only the fish meat vanished.
FUCK.
I'm like fine. The day is still early I'll catch another fish.
Only this time when I went to put the meat on the Argy so it would keep I heard him eating it. FUCKER!
I'm sitting on the little wooden chair contemplating the idiocy of a constrained camera angle (you can't look behind you and I'm assuming would just have to deal with hearing death approaching from behind. But Also looking at the other side of the watering hole where a probably hungry Kaprosuchus gator is walking around and dipping its toes in the water.
3rd try. 3rd fish caught and I GTFO before the Kapro notices me. Had grabbed some preserving salts, which although I'm happy with Studio Wildcard for adding it.. fuck them for both halving the spoil times on everything AND making the salts perishable at a ludicrous rate. WTF is the point in having preservatives THAT SPOIL in minutes!
Anyhow I get back to base, fling the taming enclosure door open... no fucking Moschops.

I mean it probably isn't the best design to have the taming pit share a wooden wall with a death pit full of hungry (like hell they are well fed) predators.. but I couldn't find it wandering outside either. Maybe it logged out and when to watch Netflix. I can only assume they ate him. It was almost tamed........ fuck my luck.
I'll just have to find another one and hope I get lucky.
