After several months on a so called Hiatus.. and while watching as the game persists despite people leaving the dev community at Bungie... and recently waiting for my friend to get her Xbox One she finally got in the mail to update Destiny over tragically terrible wifi for almost 2 weeks.. I might be ready.
I had a dream.
In this dream I was puttering around at 'work' in a parking lot that wasn't Aldo's. At the end of that day I got into a carpool but realized my shift wasn't actually over. They said not to worry we we're just dropping a boy off from school.
Something like, not to worry It's dark out so there's a chill in the air And Danger Boy.
I'm like what an interesting title scheme.
There's Something Something here and Danger Boy!
Danger Boy of course being the hero character for something like a Disney take on Destiny but aimed squarely at kids. No PvP.. just adventuring.
It was like a mash up of Disney's Gargoyles, Destiny's PvE, every hit movie with Dragons, and Guillermo's PacRim.
I really didn't think I would like PacRim but as one review had sold it to me, the movie was rooted in the classics. It did everything it had to do to be a giant monster movie and I don't care what the haters say, they did it very well.
And Danger Boy, ADB, starts out in Australia of all places because of course some nutbar.. hides hands behind back.. must have gotten an A in an over-the-web gene therapy course after getting a kit box for Christmas. And well everything in Australia was designed by God's intern Felix to kill all humans. They didn't need any help.. but got some.
There's a crazy ass Ultra dragon that busts out a of holding facility in Taz near Australia and tears a path through the land down under, eventually learning to learns to fly, hops over the islands in south east asia, through the middle east across Africa, through the Mediterranean and then up through Europe.
It gains more power and creates mayhem and more sub bosses along the way.
An interesting part was that the sub bosses would drop specific weapons as would the people that tried to stop it..
Like as it fought local communities the mutations would spread and feed on local lore. Each community would have already had champions waiting to fight it.. since it is travelling pretty slowly, and like Destiny these champions perished.
Unlike Destiny ADB could start out each area with a story about that area, you then fight your way through it AND help to rebuild it and understand the people that still live there. Something like how do you rebuild after a bio terror attack.
And when you finally start hearing the stories of the champion from the locals, unlike Destiny you can jump into that Hero's shoes. Experience the fight a bit so you know what his gear is like and how to fight.
Since they might have all failed and fallen it would be likely that their gear would be ruined and unavailable. If the guy that built it is still around, go see him and get a new set, or go beat the monster than killed him to try to find it.
It was like some minor dragon named Ildaran defeated, but it wasn't all bad. Some guy took his heart and other pointy remnants and built a gun out of it. Something like Bad juju.
It just felt so ridiculous to hold it. It pulsed in the hand and shot dragon teeth that ignited whatever I was shooting it.
Here the game could do consumables and stuff, like yeah you want to shoot dragon teeth? go fight more dragons and stockpile them or visit places that have more. The gun would take care pf making the ammo incendiary.
But as awesome as the gun was.. It had no accuracy and was hard to handle.
It had the heart and teeth of the dragon, but no eyes. Picking up the gun would present a quest to find its eyes.. or use it as is..
After playing Ark for so long its a wonder I haven't made the mash up earlier. Tech and such (vehicles and gear), Dragons and such (mounts and gear), and crafting and materials all over the world.
It would be insane to think of all of the relics, materials and guns and gear you could obtain in such a setting.
That and for Disney a book series and potential movies or TV shows for ADP. Like I miss Gargoyles and its darkness. It was funny and could be brutal at times.. but it combined ultra modern technology with the ancient Gargoyles and magic of their time.
Destiny tries to use space magic to explain everything.. but we already have several types of magic hear on earth. Why not give us a series that investigates them and not just uses them as a blanket reason everything isn't actually stupid.. just space magic.
Then I googled Ildaran. Oh yeah.. Saga of Seven Suns. Also a mix of aliens and magic and technology. Great series. Wonder if there will ever be a movie.
