Day 95
Insidious is one of my favorite words.
Doeds are in example. They are a plague. Like zebra mussels or something.
And I mean I should have listened.. TLTTC was pissing me off so bad for the last couple of days because he would constantly try to murder these stupid things and I couldn't understand why. Even after I read that they are territorial the appeared to be very benign.
Until I finally realized these lice had taken over.
TLTTC was pissing me off by moving. I'd literally turned my back 4 times and each time I turned around he had moved out of place, when he's set to not wander and not follow and I couldn't understand. The others, the 3 Brontos and Paracer were also trying to attack the damned things but I thought that it was just one of them being an asshole.. and was set to agro and I couldn't keep track of all of them. 1 of the Brontos was so it took much longer to realize that wasn't the problem but instead a Doed was encroaching. It was attacking my guys and I was getting pissed at them for trying to kill the stupid things.. They can't. The Doed will turtle and thus wait for my guys to de-agro and then it will inch forward.
I'm like wtv.
Eventually though I caught on to what was happening but there was like 6 or 8 of them within an actually defined zone that I'd only just started to wall off because I couldn't figure out why my guys kept getting agro when there was only the mob of Doeds. But it really only sparked when I'd had enough of the encroachment and had downed a 20+ Bronto and 3 Rex that had the balls to magically appear the second the Bronto was finally out of agro range of my guys for me to drop him. I need to better my chances of dealing with an Alpha Rex I'd tried to hunt down and we'd only barely managed to fight off when it became clear we were very outmatched. One of them, the Doeds, started attacking the downed Rex! I was like NOOOO you little shat!! STAHPIT!
It was war.
Having purged the base of that most real threat, saving TLTTC in the process... AGAIN.. and not really knowing how to deal with that threat, he's stalking the near shore, when I'd only expected to pass through this area.. I'm stuck fortifying it and now have to deal with this plague. These fortifications are simple.. but being forced to implement them instead of moving through the area is more than annoying me.
I'm putting down 3 X plant plots with room for more and making a wall. The wall had been started with metal spikes from the water line on either side of the section of beach I'd claimed and now has the beginnings of a dinky double high wood wall between the beach and green.
The metal spikes are irritating because larger dinos which are supposed to take more damage eventually just walk right over. The Alpha Rex wasn't at all deterred by it either. Paracers that are shorter than Brontos literally run right through them making them ineffective against a still powerful and large dino.
Killing these little fuckers, the Doeds, is actually very hard. As I'm supposed to be rapidly restocking on narcotics for the sedated Bronto and Rex but have only a limited supply of tarq arrows, as a ridiculous supply of hundreds is dwindled down to nothing.. I'll need more arrows to get the job of murdering them done. What I need is so much fire but that's not in the game yet. Like literally I'd just dump oil on them and let the little turtles roast in their hide shells so I'd have a quick supply of roasted meat for the downed Rex.
After killing half of them I finally understood how bad the situation had become, two of them were just trying to get to my beach hut. Not so bad I figured because for the most part my crew was not destroying the place. Little by little though as the Doeds pop open, and thus my guys get agro'd my structure and the stuff around it is getting more damaged. The Doeds are using my incapable offense against me.
While I still have enough tarq arrows for these last two I don't think I can risk more damage to my structure and I really can't waste too much more time not making more narcotics for the downed Bronto and Rex.
These little fuckers have to die right now.
