I think it would be funny to have a game called Telephone, targeted to iPhone and other mobiles if they can handle the AI and speech recognition.
The premise would be the player is dumped into a party scene and he has to get a message to a target, a hot girl or guy. But they don't know who the target is. They'd have to chat people up to figure out who the target is, or move around the room and locate the most popular person. The trick is the player is not allowed to talk to the target directly.
The idea would then be to talk to a room full of people before seeding the crowd with your message/influence.
Once you start to seed the crowd you can listen to what the crowd is saying (maybe if you could simulate telepathy with a good implementation of surround sound), based on your initial message. And how the people move around and talk or think.
Considering a game world like the Sims or Playstation Home (3D), the NPCs can use synthesized speech or text bubbles, and intelligence based on the sims deep characterization (each person is different and have personality traits that will play a role in how they react to different topics), it might be interesting to set stuff up the room with hot topics, dominos, and watch as the crowd reacts to your influence.
And if the room is large enough there could be more than one player in the room, and they can't talk to each other either. The winner is the player that manages to convince the target to approach them and speak to them. The game should support co-op and competitive scenarios.
