Lately it seems PC gamers have been invading the xbox forum asking about an upgraded version of the console.
It is time since IBM has a new generation of processors, directx 11 needs Xbox as it's champion hardware platform, ATI has new generation of GPUs, and SSDs and bluray which the console doesn't have, and a whole host more technologies that Xbox gamers are missing out on, but PC gamers enjoy.
PC gamers miss Xbox games though.. and this decade long travesty needs to be addressed.
How about a comprimise? if Xbox was made into an expansion card that you install in a PCIe slot. The machine loads to it and it coopts whatever resources it needs (power, DVD/bluray, RAM and GPU(s)) while doing it's networking internally. Wireless for controllers and on board audio.
I ran into trouble with the processor heating up (presuming a power7 chip).
Even as a two slot design would there be enough cooling potential? or is the entire concept ridiculous? As in why bother with Xbox if you have a PC? access to Xbox games and giving Xbox developers access to dx11 hardware and extra resources that they can't get through the Microsoft hardware platform.
