What's next? An AR girlfriend or entourage?
Consider in 3 years when Nokia, Intel, and Microsoft decide to launch a proper hyperphone which features such technology and a really good bandwidth for sharing video with the internet. One could travel with such a phone, coupled with an earpiece that has a camera in it, share their experience with a remote audience, like people using an Xbox 360 and Natal.
Those using Natal could project themselves into that AR space.. That would be really cool. Even better if companies would start having stereo earpieces (one for each ear) with an embedded camera. Software would fix the video to show you a 3D view from the perspective of the wearer. As for the wearer one could imagine AR glasses since OLED and like technology is advancing really quickly. Nevermind earpieces when a pair of AR glasses could have audio built into each arm.
