Yay, back online for now
Why aren't I getting charged 2 cents to add my opinion to things?
I mean the dot com bubble busted because people aren't getting charged for anything online and those business sites that actually do charge for things aren't really popular.
Why is that?
I mean literally a comment post should cost you even a tiny bit of cash. That would give most of us pause to consider and construct a proper comment, reply or retort. It's unlikely anyone would spam or flood if each post cost them 2 cents.
But then aren't the best threads those which allow people to have pages long discussions?
I don't think so. Even though I consider myself to be bookish... I'm not about to sift through 25 pages of a discussion to find something useful.
Ever tried to ask a forum poster to pin-point something useful in one of those 25 pages long threads? You might as well have called him the winner of the special olympics.
I just wonder if having people pay for those posts would have them take more time and post something useful. The revenue could be turned around to pay for a better service in the first place. I mean how many times has it been asked of basically any website.. why is this search engine garbage? why isn't there a spell checker?
And if there is a bit of revenue, better mods can be hired to take that function seriously.

I wonder if it would make things even more interesting if of the 2 cents paid to comment, 1 cent went to a reply (reply or to the content author...)
I mean if you haven't paid for access to a website, such as a gaming website like gametrailers, which do have a budget to maintain, and you hate the crappy ads and surveys, would paying a penny or two to comment, not to watch, but to comment on it, or to rate content, be worth it
